1. PERSONAL COMMUNICATION FOR AS/400 ------------------------------- If you are using Personal Communication (PCCOMM) as your choice of 5250 emulation software, then it is recommended that you get the latest software upgrades, APAR or Corrective Service Diskettes, for PCCOMM. The required APARs should be references as shown below: IC14957 (Version 4.1 Combo-Win) IC14958 (Version 4.1 PC400-Win) IC14959 (Version 4.1 Combo-W95) IC14960 (Version 4.1 PC400-W95) 2. UPGRADING YOUR BIOS ------------------------------- If you are experiencing problems getting a host connection with the 5250 PCI adapter and you have an IBM PC with the PCI support interface. Then upgrading yourPC's BIOS may solve your problem. You can find the date of your system's BIOS going into System Setup, when you boot your PC. You can look on the Internet to see if there is a later version for your PC. The IBM File Library WEB site that has the latest BIOS upgrade filesis located at: www.pc.ibm.com/listfiles.html From here you can search for your specific IBM PC. If there is a flash BIOS upgrade date later than on your PC, then download the file to your PC and follow the instructions that comes with the file. 3. TECHNICAL SUPPORT ------------------------------- Installation and Technical support, including problem diagnosis and resolution, is provided by the IBM 5250 Emulation Support Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. This support is accessed in call back mode through the IBM Support Center. In the United States, you may call the IBM Support Center at 1-800-237-5511 anytime and receive a return call within eight business hours (Monday -Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m, eastern time). If you get an automated response when you call the IBM Support Center, select the AS/400 option. The emulation program does not rwequire a support contract. The IBM Support Technical Support center also maintains a Bulletin board (BBS), that contains tips, user information, and program updates. The BBS is available 24 hours a day. You can call the IBM 5250 Technical Support Center BBS at 704-594-3799 anytime using the asynchronous modem. The BBS supports communications up to 14.4KB with 8 bits, no parity, and one stop bit.
