To do this go to ThinkPad Features and disable the internal modem. -------------------------------------------------------------- o Canada phone number to obtain cellular cable The number for Canada is changing to 800-454-9496. The old number will provide a caller with the new number. -------------------------------------------------------------- o Microsoft Windows95 Release 2 Install wizard reads disk initially for drivers, then tries to find them on C:\xxxx. Type in a: to redirect Windows95 Release 2 to the diskette. -------------------------------------------------------------- o Connecting to the Internet Over Cellular It is highly recommended that you connect to your Internet provider using a landline connection. Most Internet providers are not set up to support and maintain a cellular connection. If you need to connect to an Internet provider with a cellular phone system, contact your local carrier to see if they provide a cellular modem pool. If so, follow your carrier's instructions for connecting with the modem pool. Contact your Internet provider through the modem pool. If not, carefully follow the recommended procedures to connect your cellular phone to the modem. --------------------------------------------------------------- o Cellular Faxing Faxes containing 5 or fewer pages usually arrive clean and easy to read. Because of the inconsistencies in the cellular environment, larger faxes increase the chances of transmission errors or incomplete transactions occurring. If you experience faxing problems, try the following: - Resend your fax - Use fax class 1 - Use different fax software ------------------------------------------------------------- o Cellular Connections to a Non-Cellular Modem To connect to some non-cellular modems, you must turn off the MNP10-EC cellular protocol. To do this, type AT-SEC=0 in terminal mode, or add -SEC=0 to the end of your initialization string (if your initialization string contains ^M, -SEC=0 must come before ^M in the string). --------------------------------------------------------------- Windows 3.1, Windows95 and Windows NT are registered trademarks of Microsoft Corporation.
