IBM ThinkPad June 22, 1998 Mwave Fix Diskette for Windows 98 Version 1.00 ====================================================================== What These Diskettes Do ----------------------- There is one known issue under Microsoft Windows 98 when you use IBM ThinkPad that comes with Mwave DSP/Modem/Telephony/Audio function. When a ThinkPad that has Mwave telephony and audio functionality returns from Standby(suspend), the system will show a loss of audio and modem capability. To correct this problem, you must install this special fix provided by Microsoft. The following ThinkPad models are supported. - ThinkPad 755CD, 755CDV, 755CE, 755CSE, 755CV and 755CX - ThinkPad 760C, 760CD, 760E, 760ED, 760XD and 765D - ThinkPad 535, 535E Released Versions ----------------- Version 1.00 Initial release for ThinkPad 755/765/760 Summary of Changes ------------------ Where: Diskette version (for example, 1.00 means Version 1.00) (New) New function or enhancement (Fix) Correction to existing function <1.00> - (New) Initial release Installation Guide ------------------ When you finish installing Windows 98 on your computer, follow the provided steps to proceed with install. The installation replaces two original files native to Windows 98: vcomm.vxd and unimodem.vxd. 1) Startup Windows 98 on your computer 2) Insert this fix diskette in to the flppy drive and open DOS prompt Window or select Start --> Run... 3) Type A:MINSTALL on the DOS command prompt or enter A:MINSTALL on Run Window 4) Original files are renamed and these new files will be replaced in the subdirectly where the Windows 98 is installed 5) Shutdown and restart Windows 98 Trademarks ---------- IBM and ThinkPad are trademarks of IBM Corporation.
