The BIOS Version and the date can be viewed by invoking Easy-Setup and selecting Config followed by System Board. Diskette BIOS BIOS Version Level Date -------- -------- -------- 1.00 I7ET40WW 10-28-97 1.10 IDET15WW 03-13-98 1.21 IDET23WW 06-23-98 1.22 IDET24WW 08-07-98 1.23 IDET25WW 08-24-98 1.24 IDET26WW 09-07-98 1.25 IDET28WW 09-25-98 1.27 IDET30WW 12-16-98 1.28 IDET30WW 12-16-98 1.29 IDET33WW 04-14-99 1.30 IDET34WW 09-16-99 Service Information ------------------- The System Program Service diskette installs System Program as follows. ThinkPad BIOS Reserved Usable Model Date BIOS Area* BIOS ROM Area* ----- ---- --------- ------------- 770/770E/770ED 09-16-99 C0000-C9FFF E0000-EFFFF F0000-FFFFF * NOTE: - Memory Range C0000-C9FFF is reserved for Video BIOS. - Memory Range E0000-EFFFF can be used as UMB (Upper Memory Block) by a memory manager such as EMM386.EXE. - Memory Range F0000-FFFFF is reserved for BIOS. The BIOS Version and the date can be viewed by invoking Easy-Setup menu. Simple Boot Flag function ------------------------- This function automatically optimizes the behavior and boot performance of the BIOS and operating system, based on the installed operating system and previous boot. If this function is Enabled and once a Plug and Play-capable operating system, such as Windows 98, is installed, the system BIOS does not configure such hardware resources as system interrupts, memory ranges, and I/O port ranges for all the devices in the system. If you are going to use a non-Plug and Play-capable operating system, disable this function so that the BIOS will configure hardware resources. (Important Notice) If you are using multiple operating systems in addition to Windows 95/98, you must DISABLE the Simple Boot Flag in Easy-Setup. To modify the Simple Boot Flag: 1. Hold down the F1 key on the ThinkPad and power on the system. 2. Open the Config icon. 3. Open the Quick Boot icon. 4. Set Simple Boot Flag to Enable or Disable depending on configuration.
