What This Diskette Does ----------------------- This System Program Service Diskette updates the system BIOS program stored in the ThinkPad system to fix problems, add new functions, or expand functions as noted below. (New) New Function or Enhancement (Fix) Correction to existing function <5.28 - V1.0 R01-D4> - (New) Support for Windows 2000 beta 3 <5.34 - V1.0 R01-D9> Following limitations were fixed for Windows 2000. - (Fix) The following functions not be used in Windows 2000 Beta 3 *In the Power Options, monitor time out. *SCSI devices attached to CardBus SCSI cards. *CardBus cards in the Port Replicator with Advanced EtherJet. *Warm Dock and Undock of the system with Port Replicator and Advanced EtherJet. - (Fix) If you schedule a task in Windows 2000 Beta 3 using the Schedule Task, the event may not wake the system to perform that task. - (Fix) The internal modem does not work after resume. - (Fix) The printer does not work after resume from Standby. - (Fix) The power meter does not report accurate batery life. <5.48 - V1.0 R01-F3> - (New) Supprt ACPI video-expansion function. - (Fix) The swap LED is always on when trying to warm swap. - (Fix) When a PCMCIA card is in the Port Replicator with Advanced EtherJet feature, sometimes the card function fails after warm boot. - (Fix) Drive Not Ready message appears after resuming from suspend in DOS prompt windows. Updating System Program ----------------------- To determine if you should update the system program, please refer to the "Summary of Changes" section. Notes: - You need an AC adapter and a charged battery pack to update the system program. 1. Print these instructions or display them on another computer. 2. Firmly connect the AC adapter to the computer. 3. Insert the System Program Service Diskette into the diskette drive and turn on the computer. 4. When prompted press the '1' key to update the system program. Warning: Do not turn off the computer until the update has been completed. IF YOU TURN OFF THE COMPUTER WHILE THE UPDATE IS STILL IN PROGRESS, THE SYSTEM BOARD MAY HAVE TO BE REPLACED.
