If you are upgrading to Windows 98 on your ThinkPad and use Update Connector, you must upgrade to version 2.01.00 or later in order for Update Connector to work properly. *****Before installing the updated version of Update Connector, please remove any previous versions of Update Connector from your system first. To remove a previous version, click on Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs. Click on IBM Update Connector and then Add/Remove.***** Extracting the files ==================== 1. Download the file to a temporary directory on your hard drive. 2. From Windows Explorer, go to the directory where you downloaded the file to and double click on it. Note: you must be running Windows 95/98 for the extraction process to work. 3. When prompted, click Next to accept the Licensing Agreement. 4. When prompted for the extraction path, click on Finish to accept the default path. Note: if you decide to install the drivers into a different path, please take note of the directory where you extracted the files to. The default path is c:\drivers\upcon. Installation Procedures ======================= 1. Click on Start -> Programs -> MS-DOS Prompt. 2. Type CD\DRIVERS\UPCON and press Enter. Note: If you extracted the files to a different location, then you will need to change to that subdirectory. 3. Use the matrix below to determine which language code you will need to enter to install. All you will need is the two-character country code. For languages not listed, please use English. de - German dk - Danish en - English fr - French it - Italian ja - Japanese (Kanji) nl - Dutch no - Norwegian pt - Portuguese (Brazilian Portuguese) sp - Spanish su - Finnish sv - Swedish 4. Type GOTPAD XX (where XX = two character country code.... eg. GOTPAD DE will install in German). 5. The installation will open up a DOS window to initialize the Java installer... this takes a moment, so be patient. 6. At the Welcome screen click on Next. 7. The installer will copy files over with no further input required from the builder.... semi-silent. 8. When file copy is complete, you may press the FINISH button at the Installation Complete window. Close out the DOS window. Installation is complete.
