It will only extract under Windows 95/98 and Windows NT. The extraction process will NOT work with any other operating system. 1. Start Windows 98. 2. Extract the drivers onto the hard disk. 3. Click on 'Start' -> 'Run...'. 4. Type in "x:\\SETUP.EXE". Then click on 'OK'. where x: is the drive letter and is the path you extracted the files to. Default path is C:\DRIVERS\W9X\CAPTURE\ 5. When prompted, restart the computer. 6. When system starts, it will enumerate (recognize) a new device (titled "Unknown Device") and asks if you want to install it. This is the IBMVCAP device. Do NOT choose "Cancel," instead follow the recommended instruction from the Add New Hardware Wizard, and selecting the directory containing the "ibmvcap.sys" file. Default path is C:\DRIVERS\W9X\CAPTURE\ <<>> Do NOT use the Add New Hardware Wizard/Applet found in Control Panel. This method, after installing the driver, will re-enumerate the devices and attempt another installation of the IBMVCAP device. ---- DMA setting information ---- If you wish to enable high performance capturing, do the following. 1. Click on 'Start' -> 'Settings' -> 'Control Panel'. 2. Double click on 'System' and select the 'Device Manager' tab. 3. Expand 'Disk Drives' by clicking on the + (plus) symbol. 4. Select 'GENERIC IDE DISK TYPE' so that it is highlighted. 5. Click on 'Properties' and select the 'Settings' tab. 6. Make sure there is a check mark next to 'DMA'. 7. Select 'OK'. 8. Close all windows and restart the system. ------Re-installation guide------------------ 1. Click on 'Start' -> 'Settings' -> 'Control Panel'. 2. Open the 'System' icon. 3. Click on the 'Device Manager' tab. 4. Expand 'Sound, Video and Game controllers'. 5. Select 'IBMVCAP, WDM Video Capture'. 6. Click on 'Properties'. 7. Click on the 'Driver' tab and select 'Update Driver...'. 8. Click on 'Next'. 9. Select "Display a list of all drivers in a specific location so you can select the driver you want." and click on 'Next'. 10. Select "IBMVCAP, WDM Video Capture". 11. Select 'Have Disk..' 12. In the "Copy Manufacture's File from:" box, enter in the location you extracted the files to and click on the 'OK' button. Default path is C:\DRIVERS\W9X\CAPTURE\ 13. Select "IBMVCAP, WDM Video Capture" and click on the 'OK' button. 14. Respond 'Yes' to UPDATE DRIVER WARNING dialog box. 15. Click on 'Next'. 16. After the files are installed, click on 'Finish'. 17.
