Windows 95 (Retail Version, Service Pack 1) 1. Boot Windows 95. 2. Extract the program (display drivers) onto the hard disk. 3. Click Start -> Settings -> Control Panel. 4. Double-click on the 'Display' icon. 5. Select the 'Settings' tab. 6. Click on the 'Change Display Type...' button. 7. Click on the 'Change...' button under 'Adapter type' field. 8. Click on the 'Have Disk...' button. 9. Type C:\DRIVERS\W9X\VIDEO for the source path and click on the 'OK' button. 10. Windows 95 finds 'NeoMagic MagicMedia 256AV', then click on the 'OK' button. Windows 95 copies all driver files to your hard disk. 11. After driver files are copied, click on the 'Close' button to close the 'Change Display Type' window. 12. Select color depth, resolution, and font. 13. Click on the 'Close' button to close the 'Display Properties' windows. 14. Click on the 'Yes' button to restart Windows 95. Select the 'Search for a better driver than the one your device is using now.(Recommended)' and click the 'Next' button. 11. Put the check mark only in the Specify a location: check box and type C:\DRIVERS\W9X\VIDEO and click on the Next button. 12. Windows 98 finds 'NeoMagic MagicMedia 256AV' then click on 'Next' button. Windows 98 copies all driver files to your hard disk. 13. After driver files are copied, click on the 'Finish' button. 14. Click on the 'Yes' button to restart Windows 98. --- Color depth, resolution setting --- 15. Open display control panel again. 16. Select the 'Settings' tab. 17. Select color depth, resolution. 18. Click on the 'OK' button. --- Font setting --- 19. Open display control panel again. 20. Select the 'Settings' tab. 21. Click on the 'Advanced...' button. 22. Select font size. 23. Click on the 'OK' button. 24. Click on the 'Close' button to close the 'Display Properties' window. 25. Click on the 'Yes' button to restart Windows 98. Tips: ----- This version of display driver uses the following settings in NMGC5.INF file to enable/disable bitmap cache feature. HKR,DEFAULT,Disable_DevBitmap,1,00 : enable bitmap cache HKR,DEFAULT,Disable_DevBitmap,1,01 : disable bitmap cache To enable/disable the bitmap cache, the user is expected to change the setting in the NMGC5.INF file and install this driver again. (Note) If you disable the bitmap cache, the video performance will be degraded. Please carefully decide if you disable the bitmap cache to fix some problems or prevent from the video performance degradation.
