You will also need to verify that the /P and /I settings match the settings for Windows 3.1. These settings are found in the section called [AUDIODRIVE] in the SYSTEM.INI file located in the C:\WINDOWS directory. NOTE: If you are unable to resolve your issue in a DOS/Windows 3.1 environment, attempt to simply your system setup. a. Remove all other PCMCIA/PC Card devices. Install only the 20X Max Portable or 20X Max Portable Stereo CD ROM drive. This may resolve a conflict with another PC Card device. b. Attempt to simplify your CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT system files. Remove drivers that are suspected of causing a resource conflict. For example, you may wish to make a bootable startup diskette with simplified CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT system files. You will need Card and Socket Services as well as the CD ROM support drivers of PCMCD20X.SYS and MSCDEX.EXE to be added. If this corrects your problem, you will need to resolve the conflict with your setup.. If the User's Guide and above steps fail to resolve your issue, see Appendix D of your User's Guide for Help and Service Information. 6.0 OS/2 Warp Installation Notes --------------------------------- 6.1 OS/2 Warp v3 Installation ------------------------------ PCMCIA Support for OS/2 must be loaded prior to installing the 20X Max Portable or Portable Stereo CD ROM Drive. 1. PC Card is not recognized: If a beep occurs when the PC Card has been installed, the PC Card is configured correctly. If a beep is not heard when the PC Card is installed: 1. Ensure that the drive has been correctly connected. 2. Ensure that PCMCIA support has been installed for the system, and that the PC Card slots are active. 3. A system resource conflict may exist. You may specify a specific I/O port to use with the /P: setting or exclude a specific IRQ to avoid with the /EXIRQ: setting with CD20XCRD.SYS line from CONFIG.SYS. Example: DEVICE=DEVICE=C:\OS2\CD20XCRD.SYS /P:230 /EXIRQ:3 will specify to use I/O port 230 and exclude IRQ 3 from use. b. No CD ROM icon appears: The CD ROM icon appears even if the PC Card is not inserted when the 20X Max Portable or Portable Stereo CD ROM Drive drivers have been installed. The drive can be accessed when the drivers have been loaded correctly and the drive is properly connected. If no icon appears, ensure that CD ROM support has been installed. The following lines are added to the CONFIG.SYS for CD ROM Support: DEVICE=C:\OS2\OS2CDROM.DMD, IFS=C:OS2\BOOT\CDFS.IFS DEVICE=C:\OS2\MDOS\VCDROM.SYS BASEDEV=CD20XROM.ADD DEVICE=C:\OS2\CD20XCRD.SYS If the User's Guide and above steps fail to resolve your issue, see Appendix D of your User's Guide for Help and Service Information. 6.6 Installing OS/2 Warp v3 with the 20X Max Portable Drive ------------------------------------------------------------ To install OS/2 Warp v3 with the 20X Max Portable or Portable Stereo CD ROM Drive, OS/2 Warp Diskette 1 must be modified. 1.
