Bingo/2 Version 1.4 by Ric Zapanta -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GENERAL DESCRIPTION Bingo/2 for OS/2 is a 32-bit, multi-threaded, multi-media OS/2 2.x Presentation Manager software program which allows you to play many different types of bingo games on your computer. Features include: o Many types of bingo games supported You have a choice as to which type of bingo game you wish to play: - Classic (any one line) - All numbers - Diamond - Corner - Center or cross - Outside square - Inside square - Letters: T, X, Z, N, H, Y, M - Lucky 7 - Hardaway o Multi-media support using digitized sounds If you have MMPM/2 installed with a supported audio card, many digitized sounds and voices can be heard. Just like in a real bingo hall, you will hear the numbers as they are drawn. o Automated or manual play You can let the computer mark your bingo cards for you automatically or you can mark your bingo cards yourself using a mouse pointer. If you are a beginner or are not familiar with some of the bingo games, select automated play, sit back and watch the computer play your bingo cards for you. o Play up to 10 cards at the same time You can play up from 1 to 10 bingo cards all at the same time either automatically (the computers marks all the cards) or manually (you have to mark all the cards, you can adjust the time the numbers are drawn). o Bingo Board The Bingo Board displays the drawn number in reversed video. Numbers previously drawn are removed from the Bingo Board. The current number drawn is also shown in a large font for easy identification. A graphical bitmap of the game type and the running game time is also shown in the Bingo Board. o Bingo hall simulation You will feel like you are playing in your local, noisy and fun bingo hall because Bingo/2 lets you play along with other bingo hall players. You specify how many you want to play with. Depending on the number of total players in the bingo hall, cash prizes are awarded (you start with $100). Finally, you will hear other people's commentary during the game in the Chatter Box. o Bingo scores Bingo scores show the number of bingos, number of games, card played and money won by you and the other players. It also indicates how much money you have left. o High Scores The top 5 high scores (money won) are recorded and may be viewed. Can you beat the top score? o Print support You can print the set of bingo cards to your local printer. One bingo card or 4 bingo cards may be printed per page. o Highly customizable You may customize many options to allow you full flexibility of play: - Turn the sound on or off - Change the color of the bingo chips used - Change the speed of how fast the bingo numbers are called - Allow to mark all squares or not - Change fonts - Select from many different mouse pointers as markers o Help Full help support throughout, with hypertext and context-sensitive help. REQUIREMENTS Bingo/2 requires OS/2 2.x to run. Any IBM PC compatible system capable of running OS/2 Version 2.x with a VGA or higher monitor is required. For sound support, you must have MMPM/2 installed and a supported sound card. INSTALLATION Run INSTALL.EXE from an OS/2 session. An install dialog box will appear. Select the source and target drives as well as the target directory. Once you have made your selections, click Install to start the installation procedure. HOW TO PLAY BINGO/2 A. Getting Started When you first invoke the program, the Games Options dialog box is displayed to allow you to select the type of bingo game to play and the number of bingo cards you want to play at the same time. If you want to feel like playing in a bingo hall, select one or more other players to play along with you. If you wish to customize some of the Settings for game play, click on the "Settings..." push button. Click on OK to continue. Once the bingo cards are displayed, select New under File or press F2 to start the game. Numbers are drawn at regular intervals (according to the draw time which may be customized using the Settings dialog box). At any time, press F1 to get help or click on the Help push button. B. The Bingo Board The Bingo Board will display the drawn number in reversed video. Numbers previously drawn are removed from the Bingo Board. The title bar of the Bingo board window displays the Bingo game selected and the status of the current game (ie. Game not started, In progress, Game over). C. Playing Once the game has started, you may pause the game at any time by pressing F4 (or Pause from File). You may draw the next number immediately without waiting for the regular draw time interval by pressing F5 (or Next number from File). Finally, you may stop a game in progress by selecting Quit from File. When a number is called, you may: o For automated play, just sit back, relax and watch the computer mark your bingo cards o For manual play, point to the number in your bingo card(s) and click using the mouse button. A colored chip will appear, just like a real bingo game! At the end of the game, all the numbers you did not mark on any bingo card will be marked using a "transparent chip". Remember, you can move or resize any of the bingo cards as well as the Bingo Board to any desired location or window size. D. End Game If a bingo has been found, a Bingo! dialog box will appear containing the number of the winning bingo cards. Select New under File again to start a new game. E. Continuous Play If you want Bingo/2 to continuously play without any intervention (great for demos), then use the following settings: - Auto play - No prompt for new cards - No prompt for new game
