IBM PC Server 330 (8640-ES0, ES2, ESS, EM2) Recovery Diskette for BIOS 42A Keyboard Lock-up, README.TXT This recovery diskette should only be used to recover from a keyboard lock-up that occurs after flashing to BIOS 42A and disabling "Virtual Wire I/O APIC" in CMOS. This recovery diskette will restore ALL of the default CMOS settings to your system. When it completes, turn off the system, wait at least 5 seconds, and turn the system back on. The keyboard will work after the system reboots. This problem is specific to single processor configurations when after applying BIOS Version 42A, the keyboard will lock-up during the next system boot IF the "Virtual Wire I/O APIC" is disabled in the CMOS. Disabling the "Virtual Wire I/O APIC" is required IF the system will be running NetWare. BIOS 42A has been removed from the IBM BBS and Website. BIOS Version 45A has been posted on the IBM BBS and Website which also requires that NetWare users disable "Virtual Wire I/O APIC" but it does not have this keyboard lock-up problem. Please obtain BIOS 45A from the IBM BBS or website and flash your system to BIOS 45A.
