Because of recent advances in server technology, the original diskette-based installation of OS/2 (non-CID installations) was becoming extremely difficult. To remedy this situation, IBM Netfinity Server Development, in conjunction with OS/2 development, is releasing updated installation diskettes to streamline and ease the installation process under OS/2 for IBM Netfinity Servers. Previously, IBM Netfinity servers had OS/2 installation instructions posted at http://www.pc.ibm.com/support/netfinity to guide users through the OS/2 installation process. These diskettes, used in conjunction with the installation instructions posted at the above web site, help simplify the OS/2 installation process. In addition, to make it even easier to install OS/2 WARP Server SMP v4.0 on the IBM Netfinity Server 5000, the device drivers for popular options such as the IBM PC ServeRAID II, IBM PC ServeRAID 3-H, IBM PC ServeRAID 3-L adapters, IBM Etherjet 10/100 Adapter, IBM PCI Token-Ring Adapter, plus on-board drivers for SCSI and Ethernet have been included. 1.2 Installation steps Use the two diskettes (part numbers 33L3646 and 33L3647) along with the installation instructions posted to the IBM web site at: http://www.pc.ibm.com/support/netfinity The installation instructions are found by: 1) Choosing IBM Server Support on the left bar. 2) Choosing the IBM Netfinity 5000 system. 3) Selecting Software Information. 1.3 Diskette content changes IBM* Netfinity 5000 OS/2 WARP Server SMP v4 Installation diskette v1.0 (part number 33L3647) FILENAME SIZE DATE TIME VERSION What is it?
