Hello to all!!! I had a question conserning a NOVELL network, if anyone can help I would be greatful. I have a customer with a IBM PS/2 Mod 95 - OKD running NOVELL Netware 3.11 / 386, he just purchased an IBM 2.3Gig 8mm internal tape drive. He is trying to backup the system at the server running ARCserv by cheyene with the IBM 8mm tape drive. The SCSI devices are configured as 320Meg Drive is address #6 LUN 0 and the 8mm tape drive is address # 2 LUN 0. When he tried to start the backup the mechine crashed, it had to be cold booted to start it up again. After calling ARCserv he was notified that he needed a seperate SCSI controler card to use this setup. They sent him a FUTURE DOMAIN controler card, which will be used to run the 8mm IBM tape drive only?????? Just for further information the firmware Ver on the FUTURE DOMAIN controler is 1.2 and Version 3.0 for the ARCserv backup software.. What I would like to know is there any other way to backup the server at the SERVER.. and why would you need a seperate SCSI card to run the IBM 8mm tape drive?? It is my understanding that you can not use SYTOS + on this setup, I just can not make any sense why the IBM 8mm tape would need the FUTURE DOMAIN controler card to use this software. P.S. There are no other SCSI devices in this server and the topology is token ring.. Any ideas would be great.. I know that backup can be done on a PC on the ring but the customer wants to do it from the server.. Mike Larocca P1266 NJ Thanks again!!
