=============================================== X-COM INTERCEPTOR Version 1.2 Update Readme File Published by MicroProse July 3, 1998 =============================================== Visit our Web site at www.microprose.com for up-to-the-minute information and updates. The update to version 1.2 of X-COM Interceptor addresses many issues with joysticks and IGZ. Joystick Sensitivity ==================== The function of the joystick sensitivity slider on the in-game Setup/Game Configuration screen has been vastly increased. Setting the slider to the far right (maximum) replicates the feel of the original flight model (same feel as in version 1.0). Setting the slider to the far left (minimum) significantly increases the range of motion required to maneuver your ship. The lower the sensitivity, the less "twitchy" the flight model. Joystick Drift ============== X-COM Interceptor has no built-in joystick drivers per se. All of the joystick information is read from the Windows 95/98 settings. As a result, if Windows reports an incorrect setting, this information is communicated to the game, creating unpredictable results. On some joysticks, the hat switch produces erroneous information which is translated as drift by the game. The game now recognizes this situation and corrects for this error. Uncontrollable Joystick Roll ============================ On some joysticks, Windows incorrectly reports that a rudder control is present when there is, in fact, no such control. This results in an uncontrollable roll or spin. X-COM Interceptor now looks for and corrects this problem by disabling the phantom rudder control at the start of combat. Should you wish to reactivate the rudder, you can toggle the rudder on and off by pressing Ctrl-R. Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback Pro ======================================= The Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback Pro joystick now auto-centers in the game. CH Force FX =========== If you are experiencing problems with force feedback on the CH Force FX joystick, you need to download a new .INF file from CH Products at www.chproducts.com. This file should correct the problem. IGZ (Internet Gaming Zone) ========================== A number of players have experienced dropped games on IGZ, especially in games with three or more players. This problem has now been corrected. Although it is possible to play games with five or more participants on IGZ, the maximum recommended number of players is four.
