Softpaq Solution: SP0911 File Name: KBD01.SYS Title: KBD01.SYS Update for QVision 2000 in OS/2 Version: CATEGORY: Drivers / Video EFFECTIVE DATE: 26-Apr-1995 PRODUCTS AFFECTED: Deskpro XL with QVision 2000 Controller QVision 2000 Controllers QVision 2000+ Controllers OPERATING SYSTEM: IBM OS/2 2.11 SYSTEM CONFIGURATION: QVision 2000 Video Drivers, Version 2.01 DESCRIPTION: OS/2 provides a hotkey sequence that copies the contents of system RAM to diskettes. This is accomplished by a CNTRL-ALT-NUMLOCK, NUMLOCK key combination. This same function can be performed by running the CREATEDD OS/2 command from an OS/2 prompt. When this function is executed, OS/2 switches to a base VGA text mode, Video Mode 03h, and displays text prompts for the user to insert multiple diskettes. When executing this hotkey sequence with the QVision 2000 Controller and OS/2 drivers version 2.01, the screen display will not switch to the VGA text 03h Video Mode and the user will not see any diskette prompts. The display failure only occurs when OS/2 is in a graphic Mode, such as when the user is in the PM desktop for OS/2. If the user is in a full screen OS/2 text mode, or full screen DOS text mode, the hotkey sequence will work as expected. This has been corrected in an updated KBD01.SYS OS/2 driver. This updated driver will replace the one that ships with the 2.01 QVision 2000 OS/2 drivers. HOW TO USE: 1. After downloading the SoftPaq, copy it to an empty directory on your hard drive and change to that directory. If downloaded in zipped format (.ZIP), unzip the file to create an executable: PKUNZIP SP0911 2. From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq: SP0911 [ENTER] The following files should be created: KBD01.SYS SP0911.DOC 3. If desired, rename the KBD01.SYS file existing in the \OS2 subdirectory to KBD01.OLD before copying the new driver. Copy the KBD01.SYS file to the \OS2 subdirectory. This can be done by booting to OS/2 and opening an OS/2 full screen session or a DOS full screen session, or by booting to DOS and then copying the file to the \OS2 subdirectory. This file will replace the KBD01.SYS driver already existing in this subdirectory. This file was copied from the drivers diskette when the 2.01 QVision 2000 drivers for OS/2 were originally installed. 4. Shutdown OS/2 if it is running, and reboot the unit.
