DESCRIPTION:  This release of the Compaq Support Software Diskette for Windows NT 3.5
(NT SSD) contains the following new features and maintenance modifications:

 Compaq NetFlex-3 Network Adapter Family Support:
-  Added adapter support for this new Compaq Ethernet NIC that supports up to 100Mbit media.

 Compaq Integrated NetFlex Adapter Support:
-  Split memory allocation for buffers/descriptors/initblock into five separate requests.  Also added the ability to reduce the number of descriptors if there is not enough contiguous, non-cached memory available.  This fixes local NT CD installation for Workstations and Servers (Primary and Backup Domain Controllers,  Standalone).  Also added Event Log message support for these conditions.
-  Fixed problem where interrupts could possibly get disabled in the deferred processing, interrupt processing, and reset routines.

 Compaq NT SSD Setup utility:
-  Added support for the Compaq NetFlex-3 Network Adapter Family.
-  Added support for the Compaq ProSignia 300 system.
-  Added support for the Compaq ProLiant 4500 system.

 Compaq Systems Management Support:
-  Health driver enhancement to filter out incorrect fan and temperature events, which were causing systems to shutdown.  This enhancement includes a fix for an ECC glitch that also may cause a system to shutdown or lockup.
-  Fix for a Comm port buffer overflow condition.
-  Fix for Blue Screen trap when upgrading to NT 3.51 from NT 3.5.

 Compaq IDA/IDA-2/SMART array controllers:
-  Added enhanced support for the Windows NT Crashdump facility.
-  Fixed Compaq Insight Manager IOCTL returning incorrect logical drive information.

 NT SSD 1.14 Help File Support:
-  Removed the Postscript file copy of the NT SSD Help file and added a "Print All Topics" print selection from within the Help file.

 - Compaq QVISION support has been removed.  Consult the NT SSD 1.14 Help file for further details.

HOW TO USE:  

1.  After downloading the SoftPaq, copy it to an empty directory on your hard drive and change to that directory.  If downloaded in zipped format (.ZIP), unzip the file to create an executable:
PKUNZIP SP1081

2.  From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file to unbind the primary files:  SP1081 [ENTER]

The following files should be created:
QRST5.EXE
181501US._01
181501US.DOC

3.  Obtain a formatted 3.5 inch 1.44MB diskette.
