It is installed on the System Partition for those systems which support it and have hard drives. It is shipped as diskette(s) on all other products. This version of the Compaq Configuration Utility adds support for SmartStart CD-ROM v2.30, new products/options, fixes minor problems, and provides enhancements to Version 2.26 revision B. New Features: - Add UNIXWARE support - Add the protected-mode INSTALL - Add FailSafe support for SMART Array Controller. - Add M&P support for new 1GB SCSI hard drives from IBM and Fujitsu. Problems Fixed: - Clear CQTQM and CQTFL EVs so that CF.EXE and SD.EXE do not behave as if it's on SmartStart when running from diskette or system partition. - Make the messages for unsupported drives clearly state that the drives will work, but will not have pre-failure warranty support. - Fix the ID problem with DX2/66 and DX4 OverDrive Processors. - Fix a bug with the CQHUV EV and the ROMPAQ INF file to display the correct required version and search for the specific filename. - Enhance the checking of the clear NVRAM switch in both versions of System Dispatcher that intend for CD-ROM as well as for floppy diskette. - Correct the ID handling of (PnP) Palm-4 card (2nd version) - Fix a bug with the trigger IRQ's type for the Future Domain's PnP SCSI adapter according to the PnP specification. - Force an existing PnP video conferencing card, which isolates as three different PnP cards, into multiple slots. - Warn the user to upgrade system ROM if PCI cards installed in ProLiant 1500 and its system ROM is older than 5/22/95. - Synchonize the OS EV of the system board's common data area with that of SMART Array Controller when a new OS choice was selected during the configuration process. - Prevent a general conflict resolution problem in the configuration process by adding a new CPQSER2M.CMN file. - Set the default of all new OS/2 choices to OS/2 2.x - Combine FailSafe and Online into one function. - Assign an extra read to resynchronize the SCSI drives speed. - Update SYS02.OVL with the most up-to-date compatibility information about the Transaction Blaster Cache versus P5/100 system processor card. - Remove INT 14 resource from SCO UNIX 3.2.4 selection - Remove the global cache (write through) from ProSignia 500 system memory. - Remove Transaction Blaster Cache support from 90mhz system processor card - Fix a problem that caused the 133-Mhz system processor board not ID in processor slots 3 and 4. - Remove the check for "high Vcc" of the 100-Mhz system processor board in a Systempro/XL. HOW TO USE: 1. Obtain three (3) formatted 1.44 MB 3.5" diskettes. 2. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to that directory. The file that is downloaded is SP1263.EXE. 3. From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file: SP1263 [ENTER] You will be prompted to place the formatted 1.44 MB diskettes into a diskette drive to create the diskettes. Follow the instructions on the screen to create the diskettes. Be sure to label each diskette exactly as it is shown on the screen for later reference. DISK #1 -- Self booting diskette contains CF.EXE and its associated executable files. DISK #2 -- This disk is not self-bootable. It includes many configurable CFG files for Deskpro/XL,ProSignia and ProSignia VS,Systempro/XL and ProLiant 1000/2000/4000 or newer products. DISK #3 -- This disk is not self-bootable. Configurable CFG files in this diskette support only for Systempro, Systempro/E, Systempro/LT, Deskpro/L family, Deskpro/M family and Portable 486 family products. 4. After all 3 diskettes are created, you may delete the downloaded file SP1263.EXE if you wish. 5. After the diskettes are created, insert diskette #1 (the disk has "Use this Disk First" label) in drive A: and reboot the computer. 6. Follow the prompted instructions on screen to complete the configuration process. (c) Copyright 1995, Compaq Computer Corporation. All rights reserved.
