DESCRIPTION:  This version of Compaq Insight Manager Version 2.60 is a special release intended to support Softpaq SP1361, Compaq Insight Management Agents for NT Version 2.60 Rev B.  The updated Insight Management Agents in SP1361 fix a memory leak problem which existed in Insight Management Agents for Windows NT Version 2.60 Rev A or earlier.   When run for prolonged periods of time on Windows NT-based servers, the Insight Management SNMP extension agent could gradually cause SNMP.EXE to consume memory.  This would eventually generate warnings in the Windows NT event log that the server is running low on virtual memory[VJ1].  The leaks only occur under Windows NT Insight Management Agents when the NT server's SNMP data is being actively viewed from the Insight Manager Console or a third-party MIB browser.  Therefore, if you do not view a specific NT server's data for extended periods, you may be unaffected by this problem.

In order to use the updated Insight Agents provided in Softpaq SP1361, you must use this Softpaq (SP1408) to upgrade Compaq Insight Manager (console) to Version 2.60.  

Note:  This upgrade is intended for currently licensed users of the Insight Agents and Insight Manager.  The install procedure will verify that a prior copy of Insight Manager resides on the target machine, and will fail if its verification requirements are not satisfied.

The functionality provided by this Softpaq (SP1408) and Softpaq SP1361 is fully contained in SmartStart version 2.40 (available mid-October in North America).

HOW TO USE:  

1.  Obtain four (4) formatted 1.44 MB diskettes.

2. Download the SoftPaq to an empty directory on your hard drive and change to that directory.  If downloaded in zipped format (.ZIP), unzip the file to create an executable:  PKUNZIP SP1408

3.  From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file:  SP1408 [ENTER]
The following files should be created: 
QRST5.EXE

182804US._02
182804US._03
182804US._04
SP1408.TXT 

4.  To create the diskettes, run QRST5 and follow the on-screen instructions, inserting the four diskettes when prompted.

5.  After the diskettes are created, you may delete the downloaded file SP1408.EXE and the other files created on the hard disk if you wish.

6.  To install the software, follow the instruction in SETUP.TXT located on disk 1.
