Softpaq Solution: SP1507 File Name: PATCH.EXE Title: SpeechMail 1.5 Upgrade Version: 1.5 CATEGORY: Drivers / Miscellaneous EFFECTIVE DATE: 13 February 1996 PRODUCTS AFFECTED: Presario 5500 and 9500 units with SpeechMail 1.0 (North America only) OPERATING SYSTEM: Windows 95 SUPERSEDES: N/A DESCRIPTION: This softpaq allows a customer with SpeechMail version 1.0 to upgrade to SpeechMail version 1.5. This new version of SpeechMail has improved voice recognition capabilities. It will also reduce the amount of time that SpeechMail takes to hang up the phone after a caller disconnects on systems where SpeechMail has difficulty detecting a dial tone. HOW TO USE: 1. Create a temporary directory on your hard drive, such as C:\SP1507. 2. Download the SoftPaq to that directory on your hard drive and change to that directory. The file that is downloaded is SP1507.EXE. 3. From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file: SP1507 [ENTER] The following files will be created: PATCH.EXE PATCH.DLL SP1507.DOC 4. Prior to running the upgrade, you must turn off the Incoming Call Minder. To do this, select START, PROGRAMS, MEDIAPILOT, CALL MINDER ON/OFF. Click on the button to turn the Call Minder Off. You will be reminded that you can not make or receive calls while the Call Minder is off. 5. Run the "patch.exe" executable by selecting START, RUN... and type in c:\SP1507\patch.exe and click OK. NOTE: The "Locate existing SpeechMail 1.0" window defaults to c:\windows\mediaplt\spchmail.exe. Unless the SpeechMail program has been moved from the pre-installed location, just press OK. 6. When the patch is successfully installed, to start SpeechMail 1.5 turn the Incoming Call Minder back on using the procedure in step 4. 7. Reset any SpeechMail options that were customized. 8.
