Softpaq Solution: SP1510 File Name: RTC2TOD.COM Title: Adjust Presario Real-Time Clock Version: N/A CATEGORY: Software Solutions / Miscellaneous EFFECTIVE DATE: 08 March 1996 PRODUCTS AFFECTED: Presario 5200 Series, 5500 Series, 7200 Series, 7600 Series, 9200 Series, 9500 Series, 9600 Series OPERATING SYSTEM: DOS or Windows 95 SUPERSEDES: N/A DESCRIPTION: Due to initialization procedures during the Power On Self Test (POST) on the above-mentioned Presario computers, the real-time clock may lose time after a power cycle when running under DOS or Windows 95. The clock will lose approximately 6 to 10 seconds after the clock time is set and the unit is rebooted. On Windows 95 machines, this loss of time is cumulative, so every power cycle will cause the machine to lose an additional 6 to 10 seconds. This patch will correct the time adjustment during POST. On DOS machines, the loss of time with the patch should be no more than 0.3 to 0.5 seconds after a power cycle. On machines with Windows 95, the loss of time may still be on the order of 2 to 3 seconds per power cycle, which is cumulative. HOW TO USE: 1.
