Softpaq Solution: SP1518 Part Number: 183214-003 Title: Compaq Array Configuration Utility Version: 1.00 Rev C Language: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish CATEGORY: Diagnostics / Setup EFFECTIVE DATE: 18 January 1996 PRODUCTS AFFECTED: Systempro/XL, ProSignia and ProLiant servers with an EISA or PCI SMART-2 Array controller OPERATING SYSTEM: All SYSTEM CONFIGURATION: Systempro/XL, ProSignia and ProLiant servers with an EISA or PCI SMART-2 Array controller SUPERSEDES: N/A DESCRIPTION: This version corrects the following problems: - When upgrading from a SMART SCSI Array controller to a SMART-2 controller, data on the original logical drive could be lost if the user pressed the Modify button on the main screen, and then saved the configuration. The size of the logical drive was recalculated without warning. In this revision, no data loss occurs unless the user changes the fault tolerance or the size of the logical drive. - After upgrading from a SMART SCSI Array controller to a SMART-2 controller, expanding an array and saving the configuration might cause a fatal error during the save operation. In the ACU version 1.00 revision A, this caused a gap between the first and third logical drives because the second did not get saved. This gap produces an internal configuration error and the user must backup the data, run System Erase, reconfigure and restore the information. In this revision, no other logical drives will be saved after an error occurs. - A red warning dialog is now displayed when the user deletes a logical drive after pressing the Expand button from the main screen. - A red warning dialog is now displayed after the yellow warning dialog when the user modifies a logical drive and sets the size to zero. HOW TO USE: 1. Obtain two formatted 1.44 MB diskettes. 2. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to that directory. The file that is downloaded is SP1518.EXE. 3. From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file: SP1518 [ENTER] You will be prompted to place the formatted 1.44 MB diskettes into a drive to create the diskettes. 4. After the diskettes are created, you may delete the downloaded file SP1518.EXE if you wish. HOW TO UPGRADE THE SYSTEM PARTITION: If the Array Configuration Utility (ACU) is installed on the System Partition, boot to the System Partition and navigate through the menus and select the Upgrade System Partition choice. Place an X next to the Array Configuration Utility and press ENTER. You will be prompted to insert both diskettes and after the files have been copied, you can run the ACU from the System Partition. NOTE: This requires a 32MB System Partition which can only be created on a hard disk with 32MB of unused space at the beginning of the drive. Use the System Configuration Utility version 2.30 or later to create a 32MB System Partition. HOW TO UPGRADE THE WINDOWS NT VERSION: If the ACU is installed online on a Microsoft NT(R) server, follow the directions in the NT Software Support Diskette README.TXT file to upgrade the ACU. HOW TO RUN THE OFFLINE VERSION: If the ACU is not installed on the System Partition or on an NT server, place diskette 1 in drive A: and reboot. Copyright 1995,1996 Compaq Computer Corporation.
