Softpaq Solution: SP1558 File Name: NPFC Title: NetWare Programs From Compaq (NPFC) Version: 3.01 Rev A Language: English CATEGORY: Drivers / Servers EFFECTIVE DATE: 11 Mar 1996 PRODUCTS AFFECTED: All OPERATING SYSTEM: N/A SYSTEM CONFIGURATION: N/A SUPERSEDES: SP1396 DESCRIPTION: Contains the files to create the NetWare Programs From Compaq Diskette and the NetWare Programs From Compaq Supplement Diskette. The NPFC and NPFC Supplement diskettes contain NetWare drivers, NetWare Loadable Modules (NLMs), and support information to optimize the performance of NetWare on Compaq servers. The readme files for NPFC and NPFC Supplement are available as WINHELP files. To obtain the updated WINHELP files, download SoftPaq SP1559. The WHATSNEW.RDM file, found on each NPFC diskette, contains detailed information about the updates, new features, and fixes in this version. Some of the highlights include: CPQONLIN.NLM UPDATES - The Enable Cache and Disable Cache settings have been renamed Enable Accelerator and Disable Accelerator in the Logical Drive menu of CPQONLIN.NLM v1.04. These changes provide consistency across products. - CPQONLIN.NLM v1.04 has been updated to include an Accelerator Ratio setting in the Controller Settings Menu. This ratio controls the amount of memory allocated to the read and write caches on the SMART-2 controller. For example, if the Accelerator Ratio is set to Read 75% - Write 25% then 75% of the Array Accelerator cache is dedicated to the read-ahead cache and 25% is dedicated to the write-back cache. - The Array Accelerator must be installed and at least one logical drive must be configured in order to be able to modify this setting. - CPQONLIN has been updated to correctly display the spare of an array that consists of a first logical drive that is non-fault tolerant (RAID 0). Previous versions did not display the spare if the first logical drive was RAID 0 even though the spare was assigned to the array. - Version 1.04 corrects a problem caused by trying to unload CPQONLIN.NLM from the console prompt when the SMART-2 controller is busy. This problem produced a server ABEND or caused the server to reboot. - When CPQONLIN.NLM v1.03 was loaded without a configured SMART-2 controller, an incorrect Error Report displayed: NWSNut-4.11-32780 NWSAlignListDisplay could not find element "1. Array Configuration Utility" in the current list. Program execution should continue normally. CPQONLIN.NLM v1.04 corrects this problem. OTHER UPDATES - CPQNF3.COM, CPQNF3.LAN, and CPQNF3.SYS have been updated to support the following Compaq products: 10 T PCI UTP Controller 10/100 TX PCI UTP Controller HOW TO USE: 1.
