Softpaq: SP1593 File Name: VOICE.DLL Title: Fix Presario MediaPilot Speakerphone Feedback Version: N/A CATEGORY: Drivers / Miscellaneous EFFECTIVE DATE: 21 March 1996 PRODUCTS AFFECTED: Presario 500, 700, 900 Series only OPERATING SYSTEM: DOS/Windows or Windows 95 SYSTEM CONFIGURATION: MediaPilot 1.50 or 1.51i SUPERSEDES: N/A DESCRIPTION: Customers may experience audio feedback when trying to use the speakerphone on Presario 500, 700 and 900 Series computers. When these units are first set up, the speakerphone should be automatically adjusted for echo cancellation; however, feedback conditions may remain in some cases. The cause of audio feedback on any full duplex speakerphone such as the one in the Presario units is typically an inability of the hardware to compensate for reflective acoustics in the room. This SoftPaq creates a diskette containing a patch that stops speakerphone feedback by setting the speakerphone for half duplex mode. Prior to installing the patch, review the troubleshooting steps described in the file FEEDBACK.TXT, located on the diskette. If these tips do not eliminate the feedback, then install the patch. HOW TO USE: 1. Obtain 1 formatted 1.44 MB diskette. 2. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to that directory. The file that is downloaded is SP1593.EXE. 3. From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file: SP1593 [ENTER] You will be prompted to place the formatted 1.44 MB diskette into a diskette drive to create the diskette. 4. After the diskettes are created, you may delete the downloaded file SP1593.EXE if you wish. 5. Make sure the newly created diskette is in drive-A. For Windows 3.1x users: Select File, Run... and type A:\CPQINST [ENTER] For Windows 95 users: Select Start, Run... and type A:\CPQINST [ENTER] 6. When the patch installation is complete, you will be prompted to restart the computer. Select Restart (do not remove the diskette until Windows has completely restarted).
