Softpaq: SP1601 File Name: BEZFIX.EXE Title: Fix Presario 500 Volume Control Bezel Button Version: N/A CATEGORY: Drivers / Miscellaneous EFFECTIVE DATE: 9 March 1996 PRODUCTS AFFECTED: Presario 500 Series OPERATING SYSTEM: DOS/ Windows or Windows 95 SYSTEM CONFIGURATION: MediaPilot 1.51i upgrade SUPERSEDES: N/A DESCRIPTION: This SoftPaq only applies to customers with Presario 500 computers in North America/Latin America who upgrade from MediaPilot 1.0x/1.5 to MediaPilot 1.51i. After upgrading to Media Pilot 1.51i, the volume control/mute bezel buttons on the front of the Presario 500 computer no longer function. The volume can still be controlled via the MediaPilot CD Sound System mixer. This SoftPaq creates a diskette that resolves the issue. The diskette contains a replacement file along with a batch file to assist with the installation. HOW TO USE: 1. Obtain 1 formatted 1.44 MB diskette. 2. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to that directory. The file that is downloaded is SP1601.EXE. 3. From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file: SP1601 [ENTER] You will be prompted to place the formatted 1.44 MB diskette into a diskette drive to create the diskette. 4. After the diskette is created, you may delete the downloaded file SP1601.EXE if you wish. 5. Insert the newly created diskette in drive A: 6. From Windows 3.1 Program Manager, select File, Exit Windows.... Click on OK in the Exit Windows box. From Windows 95, select Start, Shutdown.... Click on the button next to "Restart the Computer in MS-DOS mode?" and click on YES. 7. From the DOS prompt (C:\>), type: A:\BEZFIX [ENTER] This executes a batch file that corrects the file CPQ_DMN.EXE in the C:\WINDOWS\MEDIAPLT directory. 8.
