Softpaq Solution: SP1605 File Name: 2910DEF.EXE Title: PDCD SCSI Adapter Patch Version: N/A CATEGORY: Drivers / Miscellaneous EFFECTIVE DATE: 20 MAY 1996 PRODUCTS AFFECTED: Presario 9200 PDCD Models OPERATING SYSTEM: DOS/Windows 3.1x or Windows 95 SUPERSEDES: N/A DESCRIPTION: A very small number of Presario units with the PDCD (rewritable CD-ROM) were shipped with the SCSI adapter non-volatile RAM (NVRAM) unprogrammed. Normally this will not cause a problem to the customer because DOS/Windows updates the NVRAM settings. In a very small number of cases, when Windows is loading or when ASPIDOC is loaded, an unprogrammed NVRAM on the SCSI adapter card will give the error message "Unable to detect PDCD Termination. Press any key to continue." At this point Windows or DOS will continue to run. No affect was seen in any of the testing on the PDCD. This softpaq will correct the NVRAM settings so that this error message will no longer appear. Please run the patch once in MS-DOS only mode (Windows closed). HOW TO USE: 1. Download the SoftPaq to a C:\SP1605 directory on your hard drive and change to that directory. The file that is downloaded is SP1605.EXE. 2.
