This software will update the audio driver for the Windows Sound System on the DeskPro and Prolinea models. Please make sure that Windows Sound System is installed on the DeskPro and Prolinea models prior to installing these ESS Audio drivers. HOW TO USE: 1. Obtain 2 formatted 1.44 MB diskettes. 2. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to that directory. The file that is downloaded is SP1698.EXE. 3. From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file: SP1698 [ENTER] You will be prompted to place the formatted 1.44 MB diskettes into a diskette drive to create the diskettes. 4. After the diskettes are created, you may delete the downloaded file SP1698.EXE if you wish. 5. Insert Disk 1 into the A: drive. From TabWorks or File Manager, select File, Run.... 6. In the Command Line, type: A:\SETUP [ENTER] 7. On the first Audio Applications Setup screen, select OK. On the second screen, select "Driver Uninstallation." Then select "Restart Windows." 8. When Windows restarts, there will be an Operator error message and a CPQDMN Error message on Presario units only. Select OK to clear both of these messages. 9. Again select File, Run.... In the Command Line, type: A:\SETUP [ENTER] 10. On the first Audio Applications Setup screen, select OK. 11. For Prolinea and DeskPro units, skip to step 14. 12. On the next screen, select "Software Installation." 13. Select OK on the next two screens. On the following screen, select "Complete Installation." A message may appear during the installation that states that a certain file is in use by another application. Select YES to skip this file and continue the installation. The installation software will prompt you for the disk #2. When the installation is complete, an Audio Applications Setup screen will again appear. 14. On this screen, select "Driver Installation."
