Softpaq Solution: SP1886 File Name: CPQSMUXD Title: Fix CIM Agents Threshold Issues under SCO OpenServer 5.0 Version: 2.61 Language: English CATEGORY: Software Solution/Servers EFFECTIVE DATE: 01 June 1996 PRODUCTS AFFECTED: Compaq Servers OPERATING SYSTEM: SCO OpenServer 5.0 or SCO OpenServer 5.0 from Compaq, including the Compaq Extended Feature Supplement (EFS) 5.03b SYSTEM CONFIGURATION: Compaq Insight Management Agents Version 2.61 for SCO OpenServer 5.0 DESCRIPTION: When thresholds are set on a server running Insight Management Agents Version 2.61 under SCO OpenServer 5.0, the customer may see incorrect detailed alarm values in the "Alarm Details" window of Compaq Insight Manager. This could affect the "Current Value" and "Threshold Top" fields for "User Threshold - Rising Alarm". Also, the Insight Management SMUX peer on the SCO OpenServer 5.0 server could crash while delivering the alarm, causing the server to become unmanageable. The Insight Management SMUX peer has been modified to correct both problems mentioned above. Refer to the README.1ST file created in Step 3 below for the steps to replace the SMUX peer on your SCO OpenServer 5.0 server. Compaq provided a snmpd patch from SCO with Insight Management Agents version 2.61 to correct problems in /etc/snmpd as distributed with SmartStart 2.50. This Softpaq will prompt you when the snmpd patch is needed on your server and, with your permission, apply the patch for you.
