ComputerEyes for Windows ReadMe =============================== This file contains information about the Windows version of the ComputerEyes System Software that became available after the ComputerEyes For Windows Owner's Manual was printed, if any such information is required. The Windows On-line Help for ComputerEyes contains information on the latest features and commands. Installation Procedure ---------------------- The ComputerEyes System Software on this disk is in a packed format to conserve disk space. You may install the software on your hard disk as follows: Under Windows using the Program Manager, select Run from the File Menu and type "A:SETUP" (or "B:SETUP") followed by the [Enter] key, and follow the simple instructions. When installation is complete the ComputerEyes For Windows program file (WEYESxxx.EXE) and its corresponding Help file (WEYESxxx.HLP) will be installed in the directory that you specify. Also, a "ComputerEyes/RT" program group will be created with icons for "ComputerEyes/RT", "ComputerEyes/RT Help" and "ComputerEyes/RT Readme". To run the ComputerEyes application, simply double-click the "ComputerEyes/RT" icon. The Setup procedure allows you to optionally install the ComputerEyes/RT Video Capture driver. The video capture driver is used in conjunction with MicroSoft's Video for Windows. It allows applications that use the Video for Windows interface to capture still video and video sequences using Digital Vision's ComputerEyes/RT Video Frame Grabber. You can also choose to install the video capture driver at a later time if desired. This is done using the Drivers applet in the Windows Control Panel. ================================================================== Application Revision History ============================ Version 5.12 (12/12/94) ----------------------- Fix problem with color palette being loaded for the ComputerEyes/RT Monochrome when the Reset button hit in the Preview dialog box. Fix loading of initial palette when application started. Version 5.11 (2/15/94) ---------------------- Added "Always on Top" option to System menu. When selected, this option forces the ComputerEyes window to always be the top-most window. The window can temporarily be hidden to see what is under it by placing the mouse cursor over the window and holding down the right mouse button. Version 5.00 (7/18/93) ---------------------- Ability to make an image bigger or smaller by dragging corners of image window. Image automatically snaps to next bigger or smaller size. Changed File Open and Save As to use standard file dialog box. Added the following image save types: Monochrome, 8-bit and 24-bit PCX (Paintbrush files); 8-bit GIF (Compuserv). Added ability to remove menu and caption bar from image window by double clicking on image. Restore the menu and caption bar by double clicking on the image again or by typing any character. The image can be dragged by holding down the mouse button over the image and moving the mouse (just as if the entire image was the caption bar). Improved rendition with calculated palette. Version 4.06 (3/15/93) ---------------------- Corrected a problem of compatibility with audio recording devices. Current release allows for the recording of sound with 8-bit resolution at 11.025 Kbytes/sec with all known existing drivers for the Sound Blaster, Sound Blaster Pro, Media Vision Pro Audio Spectrum 16, and compatible sound devices (provided that the sound boards are MS-VFW compatible). Version 4.04 (1/4/93) --------------------- Added complete support for Microsoft "Video For Windows" for both the ComputerEyes/RT Color and Mono versions. Please use Help within WEYES if some of the features are not clear. Summary of new features: 1. The length of the movie may be specified either in number of frames or seconds. The desired frame rate may also be specified. 2. Raw moving video data may be captured to memory or disk. Raw audio data is always captured to memory (there is a relatively small amount of data). The raw movie data may then be saved to a standard Video For Windows .AVI file. The total movie length is essentially limited by the available memory or disk space. 3. All display types (8-, 16-, and 24-bit) are supported. 4. The Movie menu item is not displayed for ComputerEyes/Pro. 5. The only tested audio recording device is the Sound Blaster or Sound Blaster Pro or compatibles. Sound is recorded with 8-bit resolution at 11.025 Kbytes/sec. Other sound boards may work as long as they are truly Video For Windows compatible. Version 3.01 (11/20/92) ----------------------- Agrees with ComputerEyes For Windows manual First Edition. ====================================================================== Video Capture Driver Revision ============================= Version 1.02 (12/14/94) ----------------------- Corrected problem with creation of inverse lookup table for 8-bit images. Version 1.01 (9/8/94) --------------------- Added new image sizes to support C.U. See Me. Version 1.00 (3/15/94) ---------------------- Original release.
