This file is for the users of FS4 (Flight Sim 4.0) and the Mallard Sound & Graphics upgrade. I have found the following method to work if you wish to use the Gravis Ultrasound with this combination. First, my Ultrasnd settings. Ultrasnd=220,1,1,11,7 SBOS 2.04 was used for this fix. Other SBOS's may also work. Run SBOS (no switches, "I" loaded it low.) After starting FS4 pull down Mode 1 Select J for Sound options 1. Set for SB or SB Pro (SBPro is louder) 2. Set for SB 3. Set port for 220 4. Set for IRQ 7 5. Set Com/Atis or Full Messages even if NOT using speech. 6. Set scrolling text 7. Dig. Ef (default) press ESC Start program...Plane is on runway, engine sounds will probably be cutting out every few seconds. Possible "Shish" noise every couple of seconds. Now pull down Mode 1 again Select J 3. Set port address to 230 (just do it!) Press Esc If you go to runway you probably have no sound at all now. Pull down Mode 1 3. Reset Port to 220 Press Esc Your planes engine should now be steady. You may have the "shish" noise. If so, try pushing up arrow a number of times while the plane is going down the runway. If that doesn't stop the "shish" try again with the down arrow. I'm still looking for a better way to stop the "shish". Not sure exactly what it is. It may be caused by the loop that gives the engine a constant sound. This is accomplished by "looping" the Voc over and over. Please let me know if this works for you and any variations you come across that may also work. Once you get used to the system for getting it to work, you can shorten it by going right to Mode 1,J, change port to 230, ESC, Mode 1, J, 220 then Take off. It takes only a few seconds to do this. I noticed that occasionally a Stall would drop the "shish" noise but not always. I'll get trying for a better method. Good Luck. Dave Redfern The Ultrasound Connection BBS (813) 787-8644
