727DRUMS - Advanced Gravis Ultrasound(tm) patches (C) 1992, 1993 Copyright IdMEDIA and Fran‡ois Dion Description =========== 727DRUMS is the 2nd patch set of the PERCS patches serie. In this serie, all patches are of drums or percussive instruments. They are mono or multisampled. It is distributed in an archive called 727DRUMS.ARJ ( 727 is from TR-727, a Roland drum machine). In the archive, you should have: Directory of B:\ 727BONGH PAT 5237 08-09-93 12:45a 727BONGL PAT 7715 08-09-93 12:48a 727CABAS PAT 6793 08-09-93 1:29a 727CONGH PAT 5871 08-09-93 8:55p 727CONGL PAT 12329 08-09-93 8:54p 727CONGS PAT 5017 08-09-93 8:56p 727HIAGO PAT 6793 08-09-93 12:34a 727JAWBO PAT 65275 08-09-93 1:05a 727LOAGO PAT 7715 08-09-93 12:41a 727MARAC PAT 4947 08-09-93 1:15a 727SWHIS PAT 13789 08-09-93 1:51a 727TIMBH PAT 28013 08-09-93 8:53p 727TIMBL PAT 31703 08-09-93 8:53p 727WHIST PAT 13789 08-09-93 1:15a 727DRUMS TXT 3477 08-09-93 9:20p 15 file(s) If a file is missing or is not of this length, please ask the person you got it from to erase the archive and get the correct version from one of the official distribution points (see end of file). 727BONGH is a high bongo and 727BONGL is a low bongo. These (well, the TR-727 in general) are used by Miami Sound Machine. 727CABAS is a cabasa. The one included with the GUS sounds better. 727CONGH is a high conga, 727CONGL is a low conga and 727CONGS is a slap conga. The 808 congas are more punchy but these are more latin. Watch for CONGAS.ARJ for a good set full of congas patches, to be released soon. 727HIAGO is a high Agogo and 727LOAGO is a low Agogo. 727JAWBO is a Jawbone. 727MARAC is a maracas. 727SWHIS is a short whistle. Even if you sustain it, it dies rapidly. 727WHIST is a sustaining whistle. You can use it sustained or not. 727TIMBH is a high timbale and 727TIMBL is a low timbale. These are quite nice and can even sound industrial if you change the root note. A note for people using playmidi: when playmidi reads the .cfg file, the parser cant read patch names that start with a number. to remedy to that: type the full path of the patch. Example, if you want to use 727JAWBO.PAT at position 34 in the percussions: 34 ultrasnd\midi\727jawbo Or even better, you can create a new directory and put all the custom patches there: 34 ultrasnd\custom\727jawbo for example. What's next =========== More percussive instruments (steel drums, 909) are beeing made now (July 9th 1993), and they will be released sometime in the future. In parallel i'll be doing a REAL patch serie (real instruments) and an ANASYN patch serie (analog synths).
