808DRUMS - Advanced Gravis Ultrasound(tm) patches (C) 1992, 1993 Copyright IdMEDIA and Fran‡ois Dion Description =========== 808DRUMS is the first patch set of the PERCS patches serie. In this serie, all patches are of drums or percussive instruments. They are mono or multisampled. It is distributed in an archive called 808DRUMS.ARJ ( 808 is from TR-808, a Roland drum machine). In the archive, you should have: Directory of B:\ 808CBELL PAT 13225 08-07-93 7:29p 808CLAP PAT 53733 08-07-93 8:45p 808CLAP2 PAT 22253 08-07-93 8:50p 808CLAPS PAT 10767 08-07-93 9:04p 808CLAV2 PAT 1945 08-07-93 8:12p 808CLAV3 PAT 1117 08-07-93 8:13p 808CLAVE PAT 3149 08-07-93 8:12p 808CONG PAT 17743 08-07-93 8:47p 808CONGH PAT 28465 08-07-93 8:48p 808CONGM PAT 34817 08-07-93 8:48p 808CYMB PAT 60911 08-07-93 8:45p 808HH PAT 2519 08-08-93 12:48p 808HH2 PAT 2177 08-08-93 12:48p 808HO PAT 23887 08-08-93 1:04p 808KICK1 PAT 64807 08-08-93 1:42p 808KICK2 PAT 14623 08-07-93 9:02p 808KICK3 PAT 19669 08-07-93 9:17p 808MARA2 PAT 2525 08-08-93 1:25p 808MARAC PAT 2933 08-08-93 1:24p 808RIM PAT 1347 08-07-93 8:46p 808RIM2 PAT 1161 08-07-93 8:47p 808SD1 PAT 34047 07-11-93 6:38p 808SD2 PAT 12383 07-11-93 6:37p 808SD3 PAT 17119 07-11-93 6:42p 808SD4 PAT 2709 07-11-93 6:45p 808TOMHI PAT 5859 08-08-93 1:19p 808TOMLO PAT 6779 08-08-93 1:19p COWBELL PAT 13225 08-07-93 8:48p MELOKICK PAT 64807 08-08-93 1:42p 808DRUMS TXT 6303 08-08-93 3:18p 30 file(s) If a file is missing or is not of this length, please ask the person you got it from to erase the archive and get the correct version from one of the official distribution points (see end of file). All the patches that start with 808 are sampled from a Roland TR-808 or from a Boss DR-660 (samples of 808) and represent: 808CBELL.PAT is a cow bell sound. It is used for example on Yellow Magic Orchestra's Hi tech/No crime. COWBELL.PAT is a full range version. You will find that the lower octaves sounds like SolidBass preset from Yamaha FM synths (DX-7, DX-21 as used by Technotronics). 808CLAP.PAT is a hand clap. 808CLAP2.PAT has a shorter release, and 808CLAPS.PAT is a memory saving version. 808CLAVE.PAT is a clave perc. The other 808CLAV?.PAT are shorter versions, again for memory considerations. 808CONG.PAT is a low conga. 808CONGM.PAT is mid conga and 808CONH.PAT is high conga. Similar to congas in "In the air tonight" (Phil Collins). 808CYMB.PAT is a crash cymbal. It is fairly big because of the release. 808HH.PAT and 808HH2.PAT are closed hihats. 808HO.PAT is open hihat. 808KICK*.PAT are various kick drums. A melodic version is MELOKICK.PAT. 808MARA*.PAT are maracas. For better maracas, check 727DRUMS.ARJ. 808RIM*.PAT are snare rim shots. 808SD*.PAT are 4 snare drums. 808TOMHI.PAT is a high tom and 808TOMLO.PAT is a low tom (a la Jan Hammer). These are not totally like the original because of the envelopped release instead of a sampled release. All 808*.PAT should go in the perc section of ultrasnd.ini or default. cfg while COWBELL.PAT and MELOKICK.PAT should go in the melodic section. What's next =========== More percussive instruments (steel drums, 909, 727) are beeing made now (July 7th 1993), and they will be released sometime in the future. In parallel i'll be doing a REAL patch serie (real instruments) and an ANASYN patch serie (analog synths).
