Cartridge Kit for IBM PCjr. This kit includes 2 PCBs, Sockets, Header Pins, Jumpers, and Capacitors. EPROM Chips and Programmer NOT included. With this kit, you can create your own cartridges for the IBM PCjr. This kit is only recommended for programmers and developers, due to the technical nature of the product. These PCBs support 2 types of modern ROM chips; The Atmel AT28C256 and AT27C256R. The 28 is Erasable, while the 27 is One-time programmable. The PCB is almost identical to the original PCBs. Jumpers are in the same locations, and can be bridged with soldered wire, or jumpers. An extra jumper is provided, which allows the reset-on-insert tab to be enabled or disabled. Another jumper allows the selection of the AT28C256 or AT27C256R Chip. Other jumpers control CS2 - CS7, and Base 1 and 2. The function of these jumpers is described in the IBM PCjr Technical Reference Manual. You will need an EEPROM programmer, compatible with the AT28C256 and AT27C256R chips. Many options are available. Programs to be burnt to the PROMs will also be needed. You can write your own programs, or use someone elses programs. I would recommend 28 chips at first, as they are re-programmable. The 27 chips are not. Two examples are shown in the pictures. The first example shows a 28 socketed to the board, with reconfigurable jumpers. This is great for testing and developing. The second example shows a 27 soldered directly to the PCB, with jumpers directly soldered. This is good for producing "finished" copies that you wish to keep.
