Application notes are published by PC Enterprises as a service to PCjr owners to better understand and resolve PCjr specific problems. !DOS2FIX.EXE This is a compressed file group. If you are using DOS 2.10 on your PCjr these patches will make your PCjr operate much more reliably. !DOS5FIX.EXE This is a compressed file group. With minimal effort you can have PC-DOS 5.00 up and running on your PCjr. These are the patch files you will need. Refer to Application Note AP-04 for instructions. !IDFIX.EXE This is a compressed file group. These are the patch files you will need to fix a problem which prevents PCjrs from using internal commands when used with products that change the computer's ID byte to that of a PC. Refer to Application Note AP-02 for instructions. FIXBEEP.COM Corrects a keyboard beeping problem which occurs on some PCjrs when a speed up board is installed. Enter the command: LIST FIXBEEP.DOC for more information. INT10FIX.COM Corrects a bug in the PCjr's INT 10 routine which concerns screen colors. Without this fix some programs that you run will inadvertently set the foreground and background to the same color. When this happens the screen will seem to go blank. Use this command all the time. Enter the command: LIST INT10FIX.DOC for detailed information. INT48FIX.COM Corrects certain PCjr keyboard problems. Most noticeable is the bug which prevents the PCjr from sending the "Alt slash" key combination. Enter the command: LIST INT48FIX.DOC for detailed instructions (requires a full size keyboard). INT9FIX.COM Corrects a bug in the PCjr's interrupt 9 routine which can prevent your PCjr keyboard from working. Use this command all the time. Enter the command: LIST INT9FIX.DOC for detailed instructions. JRCONFIG.SYS This program allows the PCjr to recognize expansion memory (without this program, software can not recognize memory installed above 128KB). JRCONFIG.SYS works with all PC Enterprises memory expansion products as well as all other PCjr memory expansion products sold by ALPHA, IBM, IMPULSE, MICROSOFT, MICRO PRODUCTS, QUADRAM, RACORE, TECMAR, and others. Enter the command: LIST JRCONFIG.DOC for detailed information. LIST.COM This program will make it easier to read text and document files. Use the LIST.COM program to read any .DOC or .TXT file on this or any other diskette. Use the format: LIST . Example: LIST JRCONFIG.DOC. LOWRD.SYS This program permits you to use any portion of your PCjr's memory for a ramdisk application. Works with all known PCjr memory expansion products. Enter the command: LIST JRCONFIG.DOC for detailed information. MEGADSK.SYS This program lets you create a ramdisk without using any memory available for programs. Also lets you re-boot your computer without erasing the ramdisk. Requires a PCE Megaboard. Enter the command: LIST MEGADSK.DOC for additional information. RUNCART.COM Certain PCjr cartridges can not be started once you install a self-booting hard disk drive. This program solves the problem. Enter LIST RUNCART.DOC for detailed information. TSOUND.DOC A PCjr Sound Utility. Permits many programs which are designed to produce 3 and 4-voice Tandy sound to produce the same sound on the PCjr (The PCE Tandy Sound Modification is required to product 4-voice sound. If you do not have this modification you will never hear the fourth voice). Enter LIST TSOUND.DOC for detailed information. VERSION.BAT A batch file that displays the version numbers of the important files included on this diskette. MORESOFT.TXT Other User Supported Software available from PCE. PROBLEM.TXT A form to report problems. Also provides a mechanism for us to reward those who submit new PCjr utilities to PCE (including new versions).
