Install device drivers

Use the "Install device drivers" window to install device drivers from the Software Selections CD. Following are the features of the "Install device drivers" window.

A table displays all the device drivers that are available for installation from the CD. Beside each device driver, under the Install heading, is a checkbox that indicates whether you have selected that device driver for installation.

Information about each device driver is displayed either:

You can select between these two options in the "Change settings" window.

The pie chart at the bottom of the "Install device drivers" window indicates the amount of used and free space on each of your hard disks. Selecting a disk in this function does not affect where any device driver will be installed.

To install a device driver:

  1. Click Install device drivers from the menu in the left panel. (If the Software Selections CD is not in the CD-ROM drive, you are prompted to insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive.) The table of device drivers that are available for installation is displayed.

  2. For the device driver that you want to install, click to select the checkbox under the Install heading. You can install only one device driver at a time.

  3. Click Install, and follow the on-screen instructions.

If the device driver you are installing cannot be installed directly from the Software Selections CD, a message is displayed telling you the directory path where the device-driver installation files are located on the CD. Write down this directory path; you might be prompted for it during the installation process. After you click OK to exit from the message, a file containing installation instructions for the device driver is displayed. Read and follow the installation instructions in that file.

To exit from the Software Selections CD, click Exit.
