3Com 10/100 Ethernet ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- HOW TO INSTALL Windows 95/98 ============= 1. If the system detects Ethernet or Modem, click "Cancel" and proceed with Step A otherwise go to Step B. a. Click on install from Software Selections CD. Extract the drivers to the directory specified. b. If a previous ethernet installation exists a "3Com 10/100 Mini PCI Ethernet Adaptor has a ROM" dialog box will pop-up. Check that the "Device can be removed safely. Click the do not dislplay this message again" box and press the "Test" button on the dialog box. c. Leave the "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" selection checked and press the "Finish" button. 2. If you need to add the Ethernet card, turn off the machine, add the card, and boot up the machine. 3. Click on 3Com Mini PCI Ethernet from Software Selections CD and click on install, click OK. 4. Extract the files to the folder specified. 5. From c:\Windows\Temp folder run setup.exe located in the Lansetup folder. 6. Files will be copied select yes to restart system. 7. Upon restart new hardware wizard will detect hardware and driver installed, please select landisk2 folder if prompted. Windows NT 4.0 ============== Note: This setup procedure assumes that Windows NT 4.0 networking has already been installed. 1. Click on install from Software Selections CD. 2. Extract the files to the folder specified. 3. Allow the system to reboot. If you need to add the Ethernet card, turn off the machine, add the card, and boot up the machine. 4. Click on Start>Settings>Control Panel. 5. Double click on the Network icon, click on the "Adapters" tab, then the "Add" button. 6. Press the "Have Disk" button on the "Select Network Adapter" dialog screen. 7. Set the path as the path specified when files extracted in the box and point to Landisk2 folder in the "Insert Disk" dialog screen and press "OK" button. 8. Press the "OK" button on the "Select OEM Option" dialog screen. 9. Press the "OK" button on the "Setup" dialog screen. 10. Press the "Close" button on the "Network" dialog screen. 11. Set the proper settings for your network in the "Microsoft TCP/IP Properties" dialog screen and then press the "OK" button. 12. Press the "Yes" button on the "Network Settings Change" dialog screen. Windows 2000 ============ 1. If the system detects Ethernet or Modem, click "Cancel" 2. Click on install from Software Selections CD. Extract the files to a temporary folder, eg: C:\TEMP. 3. Allow the system to reboot. If you need to insert the modem, turn off the power and do it now. 4. Press the "Next" button in the "Found New Hardware Wizard" Dialog. 5. Press the "Next" button with "Search for a suitable driver...." radio button selected. 6. Select "Specify a Location" and press "Next". 7. Enter the temporary folder specified in step 2 (above) and press "OK". 8. Press "Next" on the dialog that has found the file "net556n5.inf" 9.
