CMD Ultra DMA IDE Driver CAUTIONS : ***** FOR WIN95/98, INSTALL THE DRIVERS BEFORE DOCKING THE SYSTEM ***** ***** FOR WINDOWS NT4.0, INSTALL THE THINKPAD PIIX4 IDE DRIVER FIRST ***** ***** IF NOT, SERVICE CONTROL MANAGER ERROR WILL BE DISPLAYED UPON *** ***** DOCKED BOOT AND A STOP ERROR IS LOGGED IN THE EVENT VIEWER. ****** HOW TO INSTALL DRIVER : WINDOWS 95/98G/98SE 1.) Boot the system without ThinkPad Dock. 2.) Click on install. 3.) A message will be displayed; press OK. Installation files will be copied and a restart message will be displayed ; press NO. 4.) Shut down system. 5.) Dock the system. 6.) Power on the system; H/W wizard will detect and install correct driver. WINDOWS NT4.0 1.) Boot the system without ThinkPad Dock. 2.) Open Control Panel 3.) Open SCSI Adapters 4.) Select "Drivers" tab a. Ensure that any of the following driver is not installed; - Intel PIIX PCI Bus Master IDE Controller - IDE CD-ROM(Atapi 1.2)/Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller b. Ensure that the ThinkPad PIIX4 IDE driver is installed 5.) Push "Add" button 6.) Push "Have Disk" button 7.) Specify the path " X:\data\win98\us\CMD IDE" ; Press OK 8.) Select "oemsetup.inf" file; press OK 9.) Verify that CMD PCI-0648 is selected ; Press OK 10.) Type " X:\data\Win98\us\CMD IDE" when prompted to type location of file 11.) Select NO to restart later 12.) Shut down 13.) Dock the system 14.) Power on the system WINDOWS 2000 1.) Boot the system with ThinkPad Dock 2.) Open Device Manager and view CMD controller property: a. Click View b. Click Devices by Type c. Click "+" left to the "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" d. Double Click "Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller" 3.) Select Driver tab and press Update Driver 4.) Select "Display a list of the known drivers for this device so that I can choose a specific driver" 5.) Click "Have Disk" 6.) Specify locations x:\Data\Win98\US\CMD IDE\WinNT and press Next 7.) Make sure that the inf file Win2000 finds is cmdide.inf (not mshdc.inf) If Win2000 recommends mshdc.inf, check "Install one of the other drivers" and press Next Win2000 will list other drivers.
