Device Driver Installation Instructions

Windows 95
__________

Windows 95 ("PCI Ethernet Controller" in "Other devices")
_________________________________________________________

Windows 95 detected the "PCI Ethernet Controller", but was not able
to find the correct device driver.  In this case, you will see
"PCI Ethernet Controller" in "Other devices" in "Device Manager". 
To install the driver, follow the instructions below.

 1. Start Windows 95.
 2. Click "Start", point to "Settings", and click "Control Panel".
 3. Double-click "System" icon.
 4. Click "Device Manager" tab.
 5. Click the "+" mark to expand "Other devices".
 6. Click "PCI Ethernet Controller".
 7. Click "Properties" button.
 8. Click "Driver" tab.
 9. Click "Update Driver..." button.
10. Select "Yes (Recommended)" to "Do you want Windows to search for the driver?".
11. Click "Next>" button.
12. Click "Other Locations..." button.
13. Type the path X:\DATA\WIN98\US\INTEL(R) PRO-100 MINI PCI that contains the driver in "Location".
14. Click "OK" button.
15. Click "Finish" button.
16. It displays "Insert Disk" dialog box.  Click "OK" button.
17. Type the path X:\DATA\WIN98\US\INTEL(R) PRO-100 MINI PCI that contains the driver in "Copy files from:".
18. Click "OK" button.
19. Follow the instructions displayed on the screen.
20. Restart the computer.

Windows 95 ("Update Device Driver Wizard")

If this is the first boot of Windows 95 after installing the Intel MiniPCI card in the
computer, the Windows 95 detects the card automatically.  To install the device driver,
follow the instructions below.

 1. Start Windows 95.
 2. It displays "Update Device Driver Wizard" dialog box.
 3. Click "Next>" button.
 4. Click "Other Locations..." button.
 5. Type the path X:\DATA\WIN98\US\INTEL(R) PRO-100 MINI PCI that contains the driver in "Location".
 6. Click "OK" button.
 7. Click "Finish" button.
 8. It displays "Insert Disk" dialog box.  Click "OK" button.
 9. Type the path X:\DATA\WIN98\US\INTEL(R) PRO-100 MINI PCI that contains the driver in "Copy files from:".
10. Click "OK" button.
11. Follow the instructions displayed on the screen to configure network settings.
12. Follow the prompts for any Windows 95 installation disks by typing the path to the
    directory that contains Windows 95 files.
13. Click "Yes" when prompted to restart the computer.

Windows 95 ("Update Driver...")

To update the driver, follow the instructions below.

 1. Start Windows 95.
 2. Click "Start", point to "Settings", and click "Control Panel".
 3. Double-click "System" icon.

Windows 98

12. Type the path X:\DATA\WIN98\US\INTEL(R) PRO-100 MINI PCI that contains the driver in "Specify a location:"
13. Click "Next>" button.
14. Click "Next>" button.
15. Click "Next>" button.

    The driver installation starts.

16. Click "Finish" button when the installation completes.
17. Click "Yes" when prompted to restart the computer.

Windows 98 ("Add New Hardware Wizard")

If this is the first boot of Windows 98 after installing the Intel MiniPCI card in the
computer, the Windows 98 detects the card automatically.  To install the device driver,
follow the instructions below.

 1. Start Windows 98.
 2. It displays "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box.
 3. Click "Next>" button.
 4. Select "Search for the best driver for your device. (recommended)".
 5. Click "Next>" button.
 6. Select "Specify a location:" only.
 7. Type the path X:\DATA\WIN98\US\INTEL(R) PRO-100 MINI PCI that contains the driver in "Specify a location:".
 8. Click "Next>" button.
 9. Click "Next>" button.
10. Click "Next>" button.

    The driver installation starts.

11. Click "Finish" button when the installation completes.
12. Click "Yes" when prompted to restart the computer.

Windows 98 ("Update Driver...")

10. Select "Search for a suitable driver for my device (recommended)".
11. Click "Next>" button.
12. Select "Specify a location" only in "Optional search locations:".
13. Click "Next>" button.
14. Type the path X:\DATA\WIN98\US\INTEL(R) PRO-100 MINI PCI that contains the driver in "Copy manufacturer's files
    from:"
15. Click "OK" button.
16. Click "Next>" button. (After this step, the installer may say a "Digital Signature 
    not found" message. Simply answer "Yes" if this message appears).

    The driver installation starts.

17. Click "Finish" button when the installation completes.

Windows 2000 ("Found New Hardware Wizard")

If this is the first boot of Windows 2000 after installing the Intel MiniPCI card in the
computer, the Windows 2000 detects the card automatically.  To install the device driver,
follow the instructions below.

 1. Start Windows 2000.
 2. It displays "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog box.
 3. Click "Next>" button.
 4. Select "Search for a suitable driver for my device (recommended)".
 5. Click "Next>" button.
 6. Select "Specify a location" only in "Optional search locations:".
 7. Click "Next>" button.
 8. Type the path X:\DATA\WIN98\US\INTEL(R) PRO-100 MINI PCI that contains the driver in "Copy manufacturer's files
    from:"
 9. Click "OK" button.
10. Click "Next>" button. (After this step, the installer may say a "Digital Signature 
    not found" message. Simply answer "Yes" if this message appears).

    The driver installation starts.

11. Click "Finish" button when the installation completes.
12. Restart the computer.

Windows 2000 ("Update Driver...")

Windows NT 4.0 (Install Driver)

To install the driver, follow the instructions below.

 1. Start Windows NT 4.0.
 2. Click "Start", point to "Settings", and click "Control Panel".
 3. Double-click "Network" icon.
 4, It displays "Network Configuration" dialog box if this is the first time
    to configure the Network.  If not, go to step 20.

<First Network Configuration>

 5. Click "Yes" button.
 6. Select "Wired to the network".
 7. Click "Next>" button.
 8. Click "Select from list..." button.
 9. Click "Have Disk.." button.
10. Type the path X:\DATA\WIN98\US\INTEL(R) PRO-100 MINI PCI that contains the driver in Insert Disk dialog box.
11. Click "OK" button.
12. Select "Intel(R) PRO Adapter".
13. Click "OK" button.
14. Click "Next>" button.
15. Follow the instructions displayed on the screen.
16. Follow the prompts for any Windows NT installation disks by typing the path to
    the directory that contains Windows NT files.  (It is usually c:\i386 directory or
    Windows NT CD-ROM's x:\i386 directory.)
17. Follow the instructions displayed on the screen.
18. Click "Finish" button when the installation completes.
19. Click "Yes" when prompted to restart the computer.

<Add  Ethernet to Network Configuration>

20. Click "Adapters" tab.
21. Click "Add..." button.
22. Click "Have Disk..." button.
23. Type the path X:\DATA\WIN98\US\INTEL(R) PRO-100 MINI PCI that contains the driver in Insert Disk dialog box.
24. Click "OK" button.
25. Select "Intel(R) PRO Adapter".
26. Click "OK" button.
27. Click "Close" button.
28. Follow the instructions displayed on the screen.
29. Click "Yes" when prompted to restart the computer.

Windows NT 4.0 (Update Driver)

To update the driver, follow the instructions below.

 1. Start Windows NT 4.0.
 2. Click "Start", point to "Settings", and click "Control Panel".
 3. Double-click "Network" icon.
 4. Click "Adapters" tab.
 5. Select "Intel(R) PRO/100+ MiniPCI".
 6. Click "Update" button.
 7. Type the path X:\DATA\WIN98\US\INTEL(R) PRO-100 MINI PCI that contains the driver in Insert Disk dialog box.
 8. Click "Continue" button.
 9. Click "Close" button.
10. Click "Yes" when prompted to restart the computer.

Windows NT 4.0 (Install Ethernet Power Management Driver)

To install Ethernet Power Management Driver (NDIS PM Interface), follow the instructions
below.

 1. Start Windows NT 4.0.
 2. Click "Start", point to "Settings", and click "Control Panel".
 3. Double-click "Network" icon.
 4. Click "Protocols" tab.
 5. Click "Add..." button.
 6. Click "Have Disk..." button.
 7. Type the path X:\DATA\WIN98\US\INTEL(R) PRO-100 MINI PCI\NPMINT40 that contains the driver in
    Insert Disk dialog box.
 8. Click "OK" button.
 9. Select "NDIS PM Interface".
10. Click "OK" button.
11. Click "Close" button.
12. Click "Yes" when prompted to restart the computer.

Windows NT 4.0 (Update Ethernet Power Management Driver)

 5. Select "NDIS PM Interface".
 6. Click "Update" button.
 7. Type the path X:\DATA\WIN98\US\INTEL(R) PRO-100 MINI PCI\NPMINT40 that contains the driver in
    Windows NT Setup dialog box.
 8. Click "Continue" button.
 9. Click "Close" button.
10. Click "Yes" when prompted to restart the computer.


Windows Me
