Toshiba Satellite Pro 430CDT  -  Getting Under the Keyboard

This information may be suitable for the Toshiba Satellite Pro 430CDS and 435CDS as well.

In front of the keyboard is the following plastic piece.

The pictured plastic piece, which I will call the retainer (Toshiba calls it the 'base cover'), holds down the front of the keyboard.

Once the retainer has been removed, the front of the keyboard is then free to be lifted, although you need to exercise care, because the keyboard is still attached to the 430CDT via a flexible ribbon cable.

The retainer is held in place by 14 clips - 6 along the front edge, 6 along the back edge, and 2 very small clips at each end.

The proper procedure for removing the retainer is in the 'Removing the Keyboard' section of the maintenance manual for the 430CDT, however, following are some videos that Toshiba created.
