                           WANG PROFESSIONAL COMPUTER SERIES
                        EXPANDED MEMORY MANAGER Release 2.30.00
                        CUSTOMER SOFTWARE RELEASE NOTICE
                                       JULY 1989
=============================================================================

INTRODUCTION

The new Wang Expanded Memory Manager (WANGEMM.SYS) supersedes the two
previous expanded memory managers (EMM200.SYS and EMMPC380.SYS).
WANGEMM.SYS combines the functionality of the earlier expanded memory
managers and has added features to increase its versatility.

WANGEMM.SYS can be used on any Wang PC 200/300 Series system, any
compatible 80286-based system (with a maximum bus speed of 8 MHz.),
or any 80386-based system operating in real mode.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

Please note the following considerations when installing WANGEMM.SYS in
       various hardware and software configurations.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wang 16-Bit Expanded Memory Card

If you install Wang 16-Bit Expanded Memory Cards in 80386-based
compatible systems, make sure each card has 2048 KB of memory
(4 pairs of SIMMS). Examples of such systems include the Wang 300
Series, the Compaq Deskpro 386, and the Dell 300 Series.

If you install Wang 16-Bit Expanded Memory Cards in an IBM compatible
system, make sure there is at least one page frame for the WANGEMM to
use. If the WANGEMM cannot find a valid page frame to use, your system
displays the message "Internal Software Error".

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Installing WANGEMM with /REAL

If you install WANGEMM with /REAL on a PC 250/16, PC 280/12, PC 280/20,
or PC 350/16S, do not use /I to set ports that are already in use. The
/I "port" can not conflict with the parallel or serial ports. If you
are having difficulty using expanded memory or a communication port,
run WWSETCM to check for conflicts.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Installing WANGEMM on a PC 380 With a 1.44-MB Drive

In a PC 380 with a 1.44-MB diskette drive, do not install the following
device driver line in your CONFIG.SYS file:

              DEVICE = WANGEMM.SYS /R F000,16

This device line copies ROM BIOS into faster 32-bit RAM memory but it
also causes formatting problems. To avoid problems with your drive,
add the 144FIX0.EXE program to the AUTOEXEC.BAT file or execute it from
       the DOS command line.

Note: This formatting problem does not occur on the Wang PC 381 and PC
382 systems, so there is no need to run the 144FIX0.EXE program.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wang System Glossaries V3.0

This version of Wang System Glossaries is not supported under the
Windows V2.10 environment. Before you run WINDOWS, run the GL.EXE
utility to remove the INITGL TSR from memory.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SMARTDRV.SYS

       SMARTDRIVE.SYS V1.05 is supported under MS-DOS 3.X.
       SMARTDRIVE.SYS V2.10 is supported under MS-DOS 4.0.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Weitek Math Coprocessor

The Weitek Math Coprocessor cannot be used with the WANGEMM if the
/REAL option appears in the installation line. The Virtual Mode
Manager of the WANGEMM must be installed to use this feature. Refer to
the Wang Expanded Memory Manager User's Guide for more information.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DeskView

When using WANGEMM with DeskView V2.01 or greater, be sure to increase
the maximum allowable tasks (/T options). Refer to the Wang Expanded
Memory Manager User's Guide for information on this option.
