YAMAHA XGstudio (Version 1.0-E) for Windows(R) Thank you for purchasing the XGstudio Version 1.0-E. This file contains the latest information, corrections and addenda for XGstudio. Please read this file before installing. CPU : Intel 80486SX, 33 MHz or greater (Pentium (TM) required for software synthesis functionality) System Memory : 8MB or over (16MB recommended highly for Windows 95 operation) Operating System : Microsoft Windows 95 or 3.x (Windows 95 required for operation with the Yamaha S-YXG50 software synthesizer) Sound Function : 16bit Stereo Sound Codec, capable of playing back at 44.1Khz (for software synthesis functions). *In this case the use of an external MIDI tone module, MIDI Serial driver is required (or midi interface cable such as the Yamaha MDC-01 connected to your PC Sound Card). *Yamaha has determined that at this time due to incompatibilities with the CYRIX 686 range of processors (in particular the floating point co processor operation), that certain elements of the XGstudio application may not function. This is primarily the Software synthesis function. If you have any doubts about your CPU , it is recommended that you do not attempt to use this function. This does not affect users of the Intel range of processors or AMD K6 series processors. 1 Insert the disk into the computer's disk drive. 2 Double-click on the YAMAHA folder to open it, then double-click the "Setup.exe" file in the XGstudio folder. 3 This will install the files in the XGstudio folder and will optionally add the YAMAHA XGstudio program group in the Windows Program Manager. Unable to install - Check PC system, Hard disk, Memory and Sound System/Midi interface - Check your OS version (This software does not function under Windows NT or OS/2 - Enough space to install? When there is not enough space to install. Please delete any unnecessary files from your hard drive. Unable to start the application - Check PC system, Hard disk ,Memory and Sound System. - Check that the installation has correctly installed the application to the directory you have stated. - Have you finished the installing completely? -Check that no other applications are currently using your MIDI/Sound hardware(unless you are using a suitable multiclient MIDI driver) Unable to play back - Did you have any MIDI driver installed ? - Did you select in the XGstudio SETUP box, your sound card, tone module or software synthesizer? - Check the volume on the mixer panel. XG is a major extension on the GM format. The song data contained within the install of XGstudio is XG compatible. By using a Yamaha XG compatible device or software synthesizer, you can access all of the features of XGstudio. Playback the AVI file (Moving picture data) or BMP file (Picture data) in sync with MIDI files. To do this, you must give the same name on the AVI or BMP file and MIDI file and place it in the same folder. These are automatically played back in sync . Without the user loading a particular AVI or BMP file, DEFAULT.AVI and DEFAULT.BMP are shown on the screen. If you change the name of your favorite AVI and BMP file to DEFAULT.AVI and put them in the XGMIXER.EXE, these are played back as the default pictures. *The screen size of BMP file is 320 / 240dots.
When you play this application using Yamaha S-YG20 or S-YXG50, you can choose the 376 instruments from the instruments control panel. You may wish to change the instrument map in XGMIXER.INI. You can choose the GM or XG( S-YG20 voice or S-YXG50 voice) map.
