1.0 IMPORTANT INSTALLATION NOTE
-------------------------------

** NOTE : Please have your Sound Card installed properly before
   	  proceeding on to installing the Clef Studio 3.0.

This document describes the installation of the Clef
Studio 3.0 under Windows 95/98 and Windows NT 4.0. With this 
software you will be able to listen to Wave and Midi files and 
also play Audio CD.

There are also a Clef Midi Tracker and Clef Wave Editor for
editing purposes.

Please read this entire file and follow the installation steps
very carefully for a successful installation.

2.0 SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
-----------------------

    (1) Clef Studio 3.0 should ideally be run in 16 bit color
        resolution or better for best graphics. At lower
        resolution, the graphics will be very untidy.
    (2) At least 16MB of RAM to work. For best performances, use
        32MB or more. 
    (3) For Windows NT 4.0, please have at least 32Mb of RAM for 
	best performances. 
	Recommended to install Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 3 
	or later. 
    (4) To access the on-line help, an Internet Browser that 
	supports HTML is needed.

3.0 INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
--------------------------

1       Run SETUP.EXE in the same directory as this README.TXT.
        Follow the instructions to install the files from the CD
        to your hard disk. The installation directory is "C:\Clef3".
        
2	After installation, a Folder will appear under START MENU.
	Click "Clef Studio 3.0" to run the program. You have
	successfully installed Clef Studi 3.0.

Note :  In the case where the Clef Studio 3.0 was not setup
        correctly, run 'Uninstall Clef Studio 3.0' in the
        application folder under START MENU before choosing
        to reboot the system when prompt.
	Please ensure that you close the Clef 3.0 Icon at the
	TaskBar before uninstalling. Else the uninstallation process
        may not be clean.

4.0 LIMITED USE SOFTWARE LICENSE AGREEMENT

	The term SOFTWARE includes programs and related 
documentation supplied herewith and updates subsequently provided.

	The terms and conditions of this Agreement will apply to the 
SOFTWARE delivered by electronic download or other means and 
derivatives obtained therefrom, including any copy.

1.	TITLE AND LICENSE GRANT

	The SOFTWARE is copyrighted and contains proprietary 
information protected by law.

	All SOFTWARE, and all copies thereof, are and will remain the 
sole property of the owner and its suppliers.  You  are granted a 
personal, non-transferable and non-exclusive right to use the SOFTWARE.

2.	SOFTWARE USE

	A. You are permitted to make a single archive copy, provided 
	   the SOFTWARE shall not otherwise be reproduced, copied, 
	   disassembled, decompiled, reverse engineered or, except for 
           the documentation, disclosed to others in whole or in part 
 	   except as explicitly provided herein.

	B. THE SOFTWARE,
	   1. together with any archive copy thereof, shall be destroyed 
	      when no longer used in accordance with this License 
	      Agreement, or when the right to use the SOFTWARE is 
	      terminated; 
	   
           and

	   2. shall not be removed from a country in which use is licensed.

	C.  You understand and acknowledge that the SOFTWARE may contain 
	    expiration routines which will disable the SOFTWARE at the 
	    expiration of this License.

3.	NO WARRANTY
	
	ALL SERVICES PROVIDED HEREUNDER ARE PROVIDED "AS IS".

THE COPYRIGHT OWNER, ITS AFFILIATES, CONTRACTORS, SUPPLIERS AND AGENTS MAKE
NO WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, AND SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIM ANY WARRANTY 
OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR ANY WARRANTY OF 
INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY NONINFRINGEMENT.

YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU HAVE READ THIS AGREEMENT AND UNDERSTAND IT, AND 
THAT BY USING THE SOFTWARE YOU AGREE TO BE BOUND BY ITS TERMS AND CONDITIONS.

YOU FURTHER AGREE THAT THIS AGREEMENT IS THE COMPLETE AND EXCLUSIVE 
STATEMENT OF THE RIGHTS AND LIABILITIES OF THE PARTIES.
