DRIVER INSTALLATION IV. "INSTALL" PROGRAM I. INSTALLING CSA6460U2 CONTROLLER ----------------------------------- Please follow procedure on "CSA-6460U2 Bus Master PCI to Ultra-Enhanced IDE Controller Installation Guide." CAUTIONS: 1. Don't insert CSA-6460U2 controller until told to do so in the instructions for Windows 95, OSR2, and Windows 98. 2. Make sure that the jumpers on the drives are set correctly for Master and Slave configuration. 3. Insert the CSA-6460U2 into a PCI slot that supports bus master DMA. Refer to your motherboard manual to identify the bus-master PCI slots. 4. Clear your CMOS drive(s) configuration to "NONE" or "AUTO" after the CSA-6460U2 is inserted to system if onboard IDE controller is not used. If an onboard IDE controller and CSA-6460U2 are used together, then only hard drives connected to onboard IDE controller should be configured in CMOS. To make it simple, set them to "auto" in CMOS. II. DRIVER DESCRIPTION --------------------- This is the general release of CMD CSA-6460U2 Ultra IDE drivers. This release includes the following drivers : - DOS driver CMD646x2.sys V2.24 June 4, 1998 CMD646x.sys V2.24 June 4, 1998 CMDATPCD.SYS V1.14 February 12, 1998 - Windows 95 driver CSA64XX.MPD V1.3.4 May 13, 1998 - Windows NT3.5x/4.x driver CSA64XX.SYS V1.2.2 April 14, 1998 III. DRIVER INSTALLATION ------------------------- Software Drivers: DOS : see DOS\README.DOS Windows 95/OSR2/98 : see WIN95\README.TXT Windows NT 3.5x/4.0 : see WINNT\README.NT *************************************************************** For Windows 95/OSR2/98, please read Installation Guide or README.TXT in WIN95. Users need to load driver first before inserting CMD CSA-646U2 controller card into system. *************************************************************** DOS ---- DOS files are in the DOS\ directory. See DOS\README.DOS for instruction. Windows 95 ---------- Windows 95 files are in the WIN95\ directory. See WIN95\README.TXT for instructions. Windows NT ---------- NT3.5x/4.x files are in the WINNT\ directory. See WINNT\REAME.NT for instructions. IV. "INSTALL" PROGRAM ------------------------- "INSTALL" program will automatically install CMD cdrom driver (CMDATPCD.SYS). This driver will be necessary when users want to use a CDROM under DOS/Windows3.xx and 'command prompt only mode' under Windows 95/OSR2/98. Cdrom driver from cdrom manufacturer will not work with CSA-6460U2 controller unless it is written to support native mode (using different IRQ for IDE controller besides IRQ14 and IRQ15) besides legacy mode. Type the path where your installation program resides. For instance, if you will be installing from drive A, type: A:INSTALL It creates /quickcmd directory, copies cmdatpcd.sys file into the /quickcmd directory, and modify config.sys and autoexec.bat. Restart system then users will be able to use CDROM under DOS/ Windows3.xx and 'command prompt only mode' under Windows 95/OSR2/98.
