1.      Overview

        This CD contains Patch Files for the Game Need For Speed III.

2.      Contents

        This directory contains the following files:


        README.TXT    the file you currently look at
        LIESMICH.TXT  german version of README

        NFS3D3DP.REG  Patch-File
        NFS3GLP.REG   Patch-File

3.      Installation


3.1     Installation from Need For Speed III Patch

        After installation of Need For Speed III it starts in glide 
        mode. If you want to start the game in Direct3D it's necessary 
        to change the games registry entries.

        There are two files that change the entries automaticly. 

        a) NFS3D3DPATCH.REG changes the games registry entries.
           Need For Speed III starts in Direct3D mode. Now you have 
           ELSA Revelator support.
        b) NFS3GLIDEPATCH.REG changes it back, the way that
           Need For Speed III starts in glide mode again.

        Double click the file or right click it and select "Merge" from
        the popup menu to start. Confirm the next dialog "Are you sure 
        you want to add the information in ... to the registry?" with 
        its "Yes"-button. 
        Now the changes are made. This is displayed in a new window.
        After clicking the "OK" button Need For Speed III will start in
        the required graphics mode.
