How can I tell whether the Direct3D application I'm using delivers valid Z buffer values?

In this case, "valid Z buffer value" means that the 3D depth information is actually stored in the memory of the graphics board via the Direct3D interface, taking full advantage of the hardware acceleration of the graphics board. These depth values are used to determine the distance of an object from the viewer. The Z value determines the degree to which the respective images have to be shifted for the left and right eye.
The control of the graphics board via Direct3D can also be realized without Z-buffer hardware acceleration. In this case, the ELSA 3D REVELATOR cannot produce a stereo image.
Unfortunately, there is no simple way to check whether the game uses the hardware Z buffer or not. We thus have to refer you to the documentation or the manufacturer of that particular 3D application. At the time that these support notes were compiled, we were aware of the following applications that do not use the Z buffer:

· Microsoft Flight Simulator 98TM
· MotoRacerTM (MotoRacer 2TM works!)
· F22 Air Dominance FighterTM
· Falcon 4.0TM.
