Introduction. ---------------- This is a SCO-UNIX LLI driver for Network Everywhere Fast Ethernet Adapters whose released version is 2.0.5. It is installed by "custom" and configured by using "netconfig" command. The LLI driver requires the following hardware and software: - Network Everywhere Fast Ethernet Adapters. - SCO-UNIX ODT 2.0 (rev 3.2.4) or higher version and SCO OpenServer 5.0. B. Installation Procedure. -------------------------- 1. Prepare a formatted diskette on any DOS machine. For example, type: C>format a: 2. Now boot the SCO-UNIX and enter the Maintenance mode. Please follow the following steps to uncompress the package file: > cd /tmp (and inserts the package floppy in the proper drive, i.e. drive A:) > doscp a:/sco/lli/nclli.206 nclli > then replaces with the prepared formatted diskette done in step 1. > dd if=etftar of=/dev/rfd0135ds18 (Note: Use another device file name if you use a different floppy drive.) > Now the package installation diskette is ready for installing. 3. The following sections describe the configuration of the driver. It is suggested that you should perform these instructions in the singler-user environment (maintenance mode). 3.1. SCO-UNIX ODT 2.0 (rev 3.2.4) or higher version. 3.1.1. Run "custom" command and select the "Install" option when the "Products Currently Installed" screen is shown. Then select the "A New Product" option after the "Install" screen is shown, and then choose the "Entire Product" option under the "Select a product" menu. When "Insert: Network Everywhere Fast Ethernet LLI Driver Floppy Volume 1" screen is shown, please enter the "continue" key to keep going the install process. When the driver has been installed on the system, please choose the "Quit" option to exit the "custom" command and continue to run the "netconfig" command to add the new driver to the network drivers base. 3.1.2. After run "netconfig" command, the following screen will be shown as below: Currently configured chains: 1. sco_tcp->lo0 sco_tcp SCO TCP/IP fot UNIX lo0 SCO TCP/IP Loopback driver Available options: 1) Add a chain 2) Remove a chain 3) Reconfigure an element in a chain 4) Quit Select option: 3.1.3. Please follow the indications below to finish the driver installation: a. Select option 1 "Add a chain" b. Select top level of chain to Add or q to quit: please choose the option "1. sco_tcp SCO TCP/IP for UNIX" c. Select next level of chain to Add or q to quit: please "Network Everywhere Fast Ethernet Adapter 0" d. Add chain sco_tcp->etf0 (y/n): please type 'y'to confirm the choice. e. Enter the internet Address of this interface: n.n.n.n f. Enter the netmask for this interface (default 255.255.255.0): g. Does the interface use a broadcast address of all 1's (y/n) (default: y): h. Enter the boardcast address for this interface (default: n.n.n.n): i. Are these values correct ? (y/n): please type 'y'to confirm the choice. j. When the "Network Configuration Manager" is shown, please select "Add new LAN adapter" option under "Hardware" main item. b. When the screen "Add new LAN Adapter" is shown, then select the option "Configure hardware not listed above... ]". c. After "Select network adapter to be added:" is shown, please select the "Network Everywhere Fast Ethernet Adapter 0" item to add the driver into the system. d. When the driver is selected correctly, the "Add protocol" will be shown, then select the item "- SCO TCP/IP" as the default protocol stack. e. After finished the "TCP/IP" protocol choice, the success message will be shown as following: "The following products were sucessfully configured into the system: SCO TCP/IP Network Everywhere Fast Ethernet Adapter 0" f. When the adapter has been configured, select 'q' from the netconfig menu, and relink the kernel at the prompt. 4. When the system has been rebooted, you should see the following message among the other configuration messages: %etf0 0xE400-0xE480 11 12 speed=100Mbs id=[xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx] with the appropriate I/O addresses, IRQ, PCI device number, line speed, and the six octets of the adapter IEEE MAC address. 5. Setup driver line speed parameter. - Make sure the driver is installed and booted up. - Change the directory to /etc/conf/pack.d/etf0 - Modify the value of "SpeedMode" which is located in "space.c". If only one card is installed, please change the value which is included in the statement of "#ifdef ETF_CNTLS". If two cards are installed, please change the values which are included in the statements of "#ifdef ETF_CNTLS" and "#ifdef ETF1_CNTLS". If more than two cards are installed, please follow the above stated rule to change the line speed value. - SpeedMode[] : default is "AUTO". AUTO : start NWAY function to perform media speed detection during driver initialization. TX10 : line speed is set to 10 Mega bits per second. TX10FD : line speed is set to 10Mbps full duplex mode. TX100 : line speed is set to 100 Mega bits per second. TX100FD : line speed is set to 100Mbps full duplex mode. 6.
