Xircom(R) Pocket Adapters on a Texas Instruments TravelMate* 5000

Symptom(s):

  • Pocket adapter does not power up using either the AC power adapter or the phantom power cable
  • cannot access network

Cause:
Outdated BIOS version on the computer

Solution:
Upgrade the BIOS to build 43096a or later. For details, contact your computer manufacturer.

After upgrading the BIOS, make sure the Parallel port settings are as follows:

LPT1:
I/O 378h
INT 7
EPP/SPP

See the Pocket Adapter User's Guide for information on specifying these settings for the OS/NOS being used.
