Windows for Workgroups v3.10 Introduction: ------------- This document describes the procedure to install Microsoft Windows for Workgroups v3.10 driver for ISA Plug&Play ethernet adapter. We provide two NDIS drivers. The PNPNDIS.DOS/PNPNDIS.OS2 drivers are normal drivers and PNPNDT.DOS/PNPNDT.OS2 are turbo NDIS drivers. It is highly recommended to use the turbo drivers to improve network performance. When installing Windows for Workgroups, you are prompted for a network driver. Select the "Unlisted or Updated Network Driver". 2. Insert the ethernet adapter driver disk containing OEMSETUP.INF and PNPNDIS.DOS/PNPNDT.DOS (for turbo driver) files. 3. Specify the directory for the driver (A:\WFW31) and select the ISA PNP Adapter driver. 4. Select Advanced options, and make sure the parameters match the card settings. Check keyword "AdapterID" which is provided by PNPNDIS.DOS/PNPNDT.DOS. The installation program copies the necessary files and creates PROTOCOL.INI for use with the adapter. 5. Continue the installation per Windows for Workgroups instructions. Existing Windows for Workgroups Installation: 1. Select the "Control Panel" icon in the Main Group. 2. Select the "Network" icon. 3. Select the "Adapters" button. 4. Select the Add option. 5. Select "Unlisted or Updated Network Adapter" 6. Insert the adapter driver disk with OEMSETUP.INF and PNPNDIS.DOS/ PNPNDT.DOS and specify the path A:\WFW31. 7. Select the ISA PNP adapter driver. 8. The installation program copies the necessary files and creates PROTOCOL.INI for use with the adapter. 9. Select "Close" and when prompted, restart computer for changes to take effect and complete the installation. NOTE: You must have a terminated cable attached to the adapter when you start Windows for Workgroups. If you don't, Windows for Workgroups hangs. TO ADD NETWARE: --------------- 1. Select the "Control Panel" icon in the Main Group. 2. Select the "Network" icon. 3. Select the "Networks" button. 4. Select "Novell NetWare" and select the add button. 5. Select "OK" and close the Network icon. 6. Select reboot computer and restart Windows. NOTES: ------ 1. Parameters for the PROTOCOL.INI file: AdapterID : This keyword is provided by PNPNDIS/PNPNDT, and is required when more than one ISA PNP adapters exist on one system. 2. Installing Multiple LAN Adapters: There are two different method to complete it: (a) Under DOS mode, you can modify the AdapterID in file C:\WFW31\PROTOCOL.INI by yourself. (b) Or you can enter Windows for WorkGroup and follow above setup procedurc step 2,then click on "Setup.." button, select "Advanced...", fill AdapterID in Value item. Last step to select OK and close NETWORK SETUP.
