Question: How do I configure my modem for analog cell phone use?

Answer: Create Dial-up Networking Connection Document

1. Go to Dial-Up Networking Folder.

2. Double click on Make New Connection.

3. Name connection document to identify it for cell phone use.

4. Make sure your TDK modem is selected in Connect using box.

5. Click on Configure button.

6. Change Maximum speed to 19,200.

7. Click on Connection tab; uncheck "Wait for dial tone."

8. Click on Advanced button and check "Use cellular protocol."

9. Add -k1-sec=1s24=0 to Extra settings box.

10. Click OK, click on Options tab.

11. Check "Bring up terminal window before dialing" box.

12. Click OK, then Next.

13. Enter the phone number you want to dial.

14. Click Next, then Finish.

Make Sure You Are Using Correct Driver

1. Double click on the cell phone connection document you created in Dial-up Networking.

2. Enter your User Name and Password, click Connect.

3. When Pre-dial terminal window opens, type at&f [enter].

4. Type at^i [enter].

5. The response will tell you what driver you are using.

6. If the cell phone driver is not set, run setup.exe on the DataVoice 3400 Cellular Phone Driver floppy disk that came with your TDK Cellular Phone Cable Kit.

Make Sure Cell Phone Cable is Good

1. Make sure your signal strength is strong and the battery is charged.

2. Double click on the cell phone connection document you created in Dial-up Networking.

3. Enter your User Name and Password, click Connect.

4. When Pre-dial terminal window opens, type at&f [enter].

5. Type at^t6 [enter].

6. A response of 176 indicates the cell phone, cell phone cable and the modem are synchronized and ready to dial. Click Continue. You should connect at this point. If you don't, contact your ISP for any additional setting changes to your Dial-up Networking connection document.

7. If the response is 160 or 180, turn the cell phone off and back on. You also might have to unplug the cable and plug it back in again. Issue at^t6 command again.

If you have Windows 95 OSR2 (B version):

1. Go to Control Panel | Power.

2. Click on PC card modem tab.

3. Uncheck :Turn modem off when not in use."

4. Click Apply, then OK.
