Question: My modem is working fine except I can't hear the modem sound when it dials out.

Answer:

1. Go to the Start menu | Settings | Control Panel. Double click on Modems icon. Click on Properties button. Make sure speaker volume is set to High.

2. If you are using a Dial-up Networking document, highlight document, go to File menu, click on Properties. Click on the Configure button. Make sure speaker volume is set to High.

3. Add M3 to the modem initialization string in the application you are using.

4. Try using your modem in a different laptop. If you hear sound in the other laptop, there is a resource conflict in your laptop configuration. Contact your laptop manufacturer to determine what is causing the conflict.
