Downloadable Utilities

enabler.exe 61kb

A PC Card modem must be "configured" when it is inserted into a PC Slot. Many Windows™ 3.11 PCs have Card and Socket Services that perform this function. If your computer does not have Card and Socket Services, or if you prefer not to use them, you can use the Point Enabler program to identify and configure the CyberExpress™ 5600. The main difference between a Point Enabler and Card Services is that Card Services remains in memory and tries to identify and configure any card that is inserted into the PC Slot. The Point Enabler generally does not remain in memory and is designed to identify and configure a specific PC Card.

tdkfind.exe 13kb

If you have difficulty with the installation of your CyberExpress™ 5600 PC Card in Windows™ 3.11, the TDKFind.exe program may be very useful. After you have downloaded the file, execute TDKFind.exe at the DOS prompt and it will return the following information:

1. The type and revision of the Card and Socket Services, if installed.

2. If a TDK Modem is inserted into the PC Slot.

3. If the TDK Modem has been configured.

4. The serial port (COM port) and Interrupt Request Line (IRQ #) assigned to the TDK Modem.

This program also performs some light diagnostics and may report error messages regarding proper installation of Card and Socket Services.

Configuration Help

Some software packages identify the CyberExpress™ 5600 during installation and configure the software accordingly. Other packages require you to identify the modem from a list of possibilities. Since PCMCIA modems are fairly new, many packages do not have a complete line of TDK modems on their list. If a selection for the CyberExpress™ 5600 is unavailable, then select a Rockwell 28800 or Hayes generic modem selection, or edit the Initialization String (a.k.a. Init. Command) and use the appropriate settings for both data and fax use.

Product Documentation

Your PC Card is supplied with product documentation and other printed information. If you need another copy of the product documentation, one is available on the downloadable disk image above.
